I waited until sundown. I placed a old window screen over hole and placed bricks down to keep it in place. Poured dawn in the hole through screen and let the hose water trickle in for around 30 min. Worked

I just treated a nest in my backyard with Dawn soap and water for 10 minutes about an hour after dark. Left the hose in and watered again in the morning. That took care of it for me. I watched many videos and found them all to be so helpful.

Same here, ran over a big one with my lawn tractor and was attacked. I did what you did only to find them escaping out of another location in a retaining wall with railroad ties. It amounted to a 8 foot long nest that had the two exits. I used spectracide on both ends in the evening and ran after soaking them. two days later? no yellowjackets but that first day had them flying everywhere looking for a new place, very aggressive. little bastards

Thank you. Last year, my wife and i were in the backyard, i was breaking up some pallets, thats when I learned yellow jackets have underground hives. They were swarming all over me, but not my wife. @@howtofixitworkshop no unfortunately, the hive is somewhere in our fire pit. I tried flooding it last night, but i didn't have the hose in the right spot. I wish i could just light it on fire, but there's so much overgrown bamboo, im afraid of starting an uncontrolled fire around the house. That's why i was trying to clear out this area, but I cant get the bamboo out without disturbing the hive. Im thinking about buying a bee suit just to be on the safe side.

I had a big underground nest between tree roots, with about 50 coming and going all day. I waited til dark and approached with a big flashlight and a small propane tank. I had mounted a brazing nozzle with valve onto the propane. I opened the valve and filled the holes with gas.. As the propane changed states (a pressurized gas to a liquid), the cold liquid killed all of the pests. I left a cover over the holes for a day and checked the next night. It killed them all. Only saw 2 dead ones by each hole. The remainder, and the nest died in the cold, cold ground.

Hope this helps (posting in several vids because you all have been helpful to me) - I wanted a non toxic (as possible) solution to wasps/ yellow jackets. My children have been stung terribly by these things, so it was my turn to deal with it. I found their location through keen observation - just watching insects come and go and found a large concentration of them going into the ground, which was home for them. I was inclined to use gas, but then learned 1litre is enough to poison 1Million litres of ground water. No bueno. So I used regular tap water and four kinds of soaps: dish, a liberal sprinkling of "Comet", 3 dishwashing machine dissolvable pouches and 2 scoops of borax/soap flakes. Suffice to say there was enough bubbles for Africa. I carried a very large bucket of water (half a metal full size trash can worth) to the location, far away from my home. It was heavy going as I am fat. Tip: use a stout stick to help with the digging in of the handle by carrying the stick under the handle. I went at 9pm on late summer night. It was dark out. Using my head flashlight, I located the hole. There were dozens of them still buzzing around the hole. I was dead afraid having been stung by these before. I decided to forgo the funnel, steel wool as some advised. The hole was just far too big. I poured the water and the foam overwhelmed them. I poured about half quickly, then calmed down and poured till it soaked into the hole. Observed for a second, then got chicken and poured more in spurts, until it was all gone. I was shocked at the size of the things guarding the entrance at night. These were easily half as long as my tip of thumb to thumb joint. Not as thick obviously, but seriously large. Yellow jackets on kind of steroids. I saw them all on the surface completely motionless (I read the soap dissolves their wax, filling their spiracles, which drowns them instantly). After all was poured, I waited ten seconds at the hole and saw nothing come out. I was still scared in case there may be workers still coming back to the nest. I got out of there and will go look at it tomorrow/next day and report back if there is interest.

@@howtofixitworkshop my pleasure. The next morning I found activity at the wasp net entrance, though the big boys were dead, and severely diminished in terms of numbers. Not good enough. Last night I went with an acquaintance, and we poured double the amount of the soapy (hot) water concoction in at night time. There were no guards on duty. I poured my large container in slowly, and then he did his. We found several stragglers possibly coming from a second entrance close to the original gaping nest hole and doused those. The soap kills quicker than wasp spray poison I have found - back to back tests within 12hrs of each other. This morning I went to check twice. Before 7am and now at 1030am with sun. There were about 5 wasps in total buzzing around, I sprayed poison onto them and onto the nest entrance quite thickly. Otherwise, quiet and dead still after observing ten minutes. I might go again tonight to just rid the nest of any other wasps near the entrance. Feels way less stressful with about 99% of them eradicated. I am a believe in this method. Less environmentally negative than other methods. With limited water supply (no hose), it requires a few dosings. No big deal. And highly effective.

I just use spray foam. Cover the entrance and then stick the straw all the way in and fill it up as much as possible. At 4am before I go to work. So far two nests down. Maximum expansion foam.

I am allergic to bee sting so just an FYI for you… I keep a big jar of chewable 500 mg vitamin C from Costco on hand. If I ever get stung, I immediately chew two of the 500 mg vitamin C and it will block a lot of the histamine allergic reaction of thebee sting and reduce swelling effect! You may also want to keep some children’s chewable Benadryl on hand if you need it!.

Only at night, turn a bottle of 90% rubbing alcohol upside down in the entrance hole. First, very gently place a brick on each side of the hole to support the bottle. If you use a flashlight make sure that it has a RED lens. This is very cheap and effective.

Until you kill the queen you will always have this problem. There’s one method I use that does this without fail. I use Seven (now Eight) horticultural pesticide dust and puff it into and around the hole. As the workers land they crawl through it and take it into the nest so the queen can have a snack. Works like a charm.

I wouldn't recommend the water as it's not always going to be effective. If there's another entrance which there usually is if the nest is big enough then you will just piss them off and possibly get stung even more. Soapy water especially hot would definitely do the trick. It actually works great on all sorts of incects. I've found that for about $10 at home depot you can buy a powder called sevin dust and it works great. It's meant to be used in your gardens for getting rid of bugs and doesn't even state that it kills bees but I've shot it I to the entrance of basketball sized nest inside walls and it'll kill every single one of them as they carry it back into the nest with them. Just my 2 cents. I'm not an expert at all I've just dealt with my fair share of bees over the years

#1 - Pour an ENTIRE bottle DAWN dish soap down that entrance hole. Be PATIENT. Make sure it gies in and not just burps over the side. #2 - have a 5 gallon bucket of the hottest water you can get right next to you along with your garden hose. Two 5 gallon buckets of scalding hit water is better but not required. Dump that water in to the nest hole. All of it. #3 - run that hose into the entance hole and finish drowning those bastards.

I have a wasps nest under my "concrete porch." They get in at the very bottom. Not sure how to kill the nest, because the porch is 3 feet high by 5 ft wide. If you try using water, it won't work if their nesting up high under the porch. I did take out a nest very fast with that spray stuff from Home Depot. It sprays about 15 ft and covers the whole nest in foam. In this case the nest was outside and I could see it. Right now, because this nest is under the porch, I think I need a poison powder, that will stick to their legs, and they will drag it into the nest. I hope that will work. I was hoping to use spray foam, but you have to hit the nest.( can't see it) I see one comment here that Sevin Dust from Home Depot works.

I've done this before with dry ice. It definitely works if you do it early in the morning... 4-5am so it's still frozen when they all start to wake up. Just throw it as close to the hole as possible. I can get free dry ice from work as it is used in shipments we receive and is thrown away. I also make sure to dig out the nests in January so they aren't reinhabited. My issue is that I have moles or voles making holes around my yard that are hard to distinguish from bee nests.
