📚 How to start homeschooling STEP BY STEP!
If you want to start homeschooling but feel like you’re lost or don’t know where to start, these steps will help you organize your thoughts and be able to confidently transition into homeschooling.
Even if you’re new to homeschooling and need some homeschool advice, this should hopefully help!
First - go find out your homeschool laws. Every state has different homeschool laws and different requirements for getting started. Some states require a letter of intent. Some states require a full homeschool plan. And some states require homeschool testing.
Next, develop a homeschool schedule. This could be as easy as writing a few things down on sticky notes and arranging them in an order you think will work for your family. You can also grab my homeschool schedule template if you prefer.
Next, it’s time to explore homeschool curriculum. This is the fun part!! Go crazy and have fun. Remember the best homeschool curriculum for me may not be the best for you. And unschooling requires no curriculum at all if you go that route!!
Now it’s time to connect. Connect with your community through local homeschool co ops and groups. Find homeschool groups on Facebook. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Now just enjoy yourself. Homeschooling is a beautiful journey and you won’t regret ever starting it ❤️

Tysm for this! Just found you! I've been going crazy trying to figure this homeschooling situation. I live in NY and have no teaching background, know NO ONE who homeschools and have never been homeschooled but I know God is calling me to do so. I have a 4.5 year old who has never been to school, a 1.5 year old and a 4 month old and I am horrible at routines. I feel defeated most days and can barely shower. I have no help with anything including babysitting, cleaning, cooking, nothing. Its all on my husband and I. So I just feel like I am biting off more than I can chew but I truly feel called to do this. I am so overwhelmed as I also work from home twice a week and will start working outside of the home on Saturdays (12 hr work day plus 2 hr travel so a total of 14 hrs outside of the home while my husband who works a full work week watches them). We are also very involved in church and attend 3 times a week every week. I am asking God to help me with creating a routine that works for us and a curriculum that also works for us. I want it be Bible based most importantly and also engaging for my 4.5 year old boy. Any tips besides the ones mentioned here would be more than welcome. And prayer, lots of prayer for direction and strength in doing all of this on my own please. Tysm!

Hey! I am very much in a similar situation. We knew nobody who ever homeschooled and had each been public schooled our whole lives. We also do it all on our own - so babysitters, etc. Things can get pretty overwhelming sometimes especially because my husband works from home so we are altogether ALL THE TIME and the house gets SOOOOO messy!!!! With no time to clean and barely a second to shower. I am not even kidding you I shower like twice a week. It's so bad lol!!! But despite all of that, I know we are doing the right thing. I feel so whole and like I am doing what I am meant to do. We have a 6.5, 3.5, and 1.5 year old. We are also very active in our church. There is a bible on Amazon called "the homeschool moms bible" that you may want to check out. I do have it linked to my homeschool amazon favorites list on my page!! Also, have you found any local groups or co-ops? I know homeschooling in NY can be a little tough with all the regulations they place on you there. I am excited for you!!
