Christian Light Education is one of our absolute FAVORITE homeschool curriculums! We started with their reading program and fell in love immediately. Now we are adding language arts, cursive, preschool, and math!
This curriculum is a perfect blend of mastery and spiral. My first grader has improved SO much since we switched from the Good and The Beautiful last year. I am so happy I found this curriculum, but not many people seem to know about it. Hopefully this video will help more families discover this awesome curriculum.

My son did CLE Lang. Arts, Reading, and Math from 1st grade through 9th grade. I can not tell you what a solid foundation it has given him! It is such a wonderful program. I always giggle a little bit when people, like yourself, say they didn't consider it because of how it looked because how it looked was exactly why I considered it. My son was a very busy, busy boy. He didn't want or need a lot of "fluff". He wanted to do the lesson and then get on to the "fun" stuff - trucks, outside with the chickens and farm cats...So the very basic looking light units helped him stay focused and not get distracted.

We love CLE math and Language arts! We are on our 3rd year with it! My upcoming 1st/2nd grader begged me not to switch it ! He truly LOVES it!

We came to Christian light education from the good and the beautiful preschool and k prep. I found that CLE Kinder program is very gentle. At least the first couple units.

My 2nd grader is currently finishing math and she has loved it. She switched from math u see alpha because she was so bored. The scheduled flash card practice combined with the daily drills and she has memorized her math facts. The variety of things she’s learned has been so much better than just addition and subtraction. My other daughter is using math 1 and I can see how this really prepares for 2nd grade math. My favorite has been their reading. I ended up ordering their 5th and 6th grade reading for my 11 and 12 year olds and they are learning about poetry and Greek and Latin roots Today English 1 arrived for my future 10th graders. This was my first year using CLE and I love it so much I want them to use their English 1 and 2 in 10th and 11th. I am blown away at how much the English l covers. It is definitely college prep!

I am so glad to hear this!! We are currently using Math U See Alpha and I am over it. I understand the importance of mastery but we have literally been only working on single digit addition and subtraction for a full year!!! I am ready for more of a spiral. I ended up ordering the last 5 light units of 1st grade and then the entire year of 2nd grade math. I know my daughter is not going to be happy about having to do a half a year of first again, but I would rather fill in the gaps now than have her be lost later!

We are new to homeschooling and I have twin 1st grade. ive been looking at the good and the beautiful but then I seen ur post about CLE. Do you like it better than TGTB?

Love the drills. My daughter has gotten so much better with her facts. I let her grade her own. We make down her time each time. I don’t stress the 2 mins time we just try to better our time.

So every grade subject has 10 workbooks total except for 1st grade with 15 total. How does the pacing work? Does it make it a longer school year?

For us, it did make the year a little longer. Like we went from August-June before finishing....but we also take a lot of breaks so I am not sure if that made a difference

I know you mention you send your kids to an actual VPK school but what if I wanted to start VPK at home which curriculums would you recommend?

We like Horizons PreSchool and BookShark PreK!!
