While I've done a wealth of modeling and 3D printing in various guises, I've been looking for that right flavor to get into CNC. I've watched a half dozen of these tutorials the last few days, and while some were useful, they all felt like info coming from people who've forgotten what it feels like to do this from scratch. This one felt like someone who speaks my language. Very easy to pick up, and I've figured out the right process for me to adapt. Many thanks, Lars!

Back when i first started work in a small engineering firm back in the 80's they used to have some cnc equipment and i always remember the manual programming of the machine and then the rapid hitting of the emergency stop when you noticed that you had put z-50 rather than z50 or similar. This stuff you've just demonstrated is truly amazing and must reduce boring bars into the chuck incidents massively.

Excellent video. FYI, different CAD programs don't typically agree what axis is the Z axis when exporting. Engineers/designers don't typically model in dumb orientations; when importing, Fusion just guesses which axes are the XYZ axes and sometimes guesses wrong based on what program exported the file.

Lars, now how do you finish the bottom side of the part? Do you have to file the part as a different model and then flip the part and go from there or can you do it in the same model with the top cam setup?
@SomervilleMetalWorks5 жыл бұрын
You would make a 2nd setup in the cam and then select the bottom face as origin then you can face off and deburr the part. Obviously a 2nd setup requires you to flip it over in vice in real life etc
