Great application of the GS05: setting targets for UAS post processing and scan project control. Small, light, and powerful. The RTC is usually the best fit for most, but the P-Series is a beast for precision and range.

That video reminds me of my seismic surveyor days. Pounding lathe in the frozen ground kills.the arms. Grest video.

Any reason why you chose this unit instead of the RTC360

P series gives us the ability to level our scanner. Plus more point density which is useful in wooded environments.

In general, the P Series allows for more traditional surveying procedures (i.e. setting up over a known point), greater detail, and longer range. The RTC allows for ease of use, faster scans, smaller size, and different budget. P Series users are typically trying to do larger and or highly precise tasks like scanning large towers/structures, long stretches of inaccessible bridges/infrastructure or any project demanding the highest level of precision. The RTC is more of a workhorse that balances speed, size, agility, and ease of use while performing strongly in both indoor and outdoor applications. The RTC is typically the best option for most users.

@ so you didn’t find the self leveling desirable that the rtc360 offers?

@ I see what you mean. Thanks for elaborating!

Decent quality gnss under a metal bridge with half the satelites blocked at min3:30. Really brother🤦♀

3D quality and absolute accuracy are two different things. I will be reporting on the overall accuracy of the point cloud during my presentation next week.

@@RamiTamimi i know but my point is never set a gnss like that, no matter what kind of project it is... It's just bad practice.

@@landmeterbeuckx4779he also talked about the tilt compensation being a good thing to have, even though it should be turned off when setting control like that and using a bipod.

Poor surveyor here. Can you send me $100,000 so I can buy a Leica P40. Thanks. PS. I know this is just a demo but seeing someone hammer just a nail into soft ground to mark a setup is making me nervous.

That ground was frozen solid 🥶

@RamiTamimi Yeah fair enough, but I'm assuming it will thaw, and it just gave me a general sense of nervousness. Would probably have done the same myself if no-one was watching haha.
