Most explanations of how the Imbue quest works are very superficial or just say to aim for X level for all items, without explaining the mechanics, today, we're going to take a deep dive into crafting items through the Imbue Quest at Charsi.

was going to just say "go watch this video" honestly, until I realized there really isn't a video on any of the major sources that covers it in any detail beyond the "level 94 everything" kind of advice lol (which isn't bad advice, it will give you the end-game items since everything is possible... but it is a bit excessive, and unnecessary, to do 94 for everything)

As a casual gamer I usually imbue gloves, belts or boots depending on what my character need. I’ve leveled up a paladin to about level 50, and badly needed an upgrade on my boots around level 30. Got a sweet pair of boots with fire- poison- and cold res, faster run/walk and enhanced defense. Great stuff.

yea, you can actually get some really nice mods even early on with imbuing, especially since there's that clvl+4 bonus it provides on the rares - in fact, there's even whole guides over using it to make low level dueling gear and such by restricting the level you imbue at.

Yea, it's a bit info dense unfortunately, if people wanted just quick rules, I included them at the end, but it always feels weird giving the 'here's a broad rule of thumb' without telling why :)

Imbued items were pre lord of destruction. Most imbues were still used but commonly replaced and upgraded to a set or unique or rune words once lod was released.

I didn’t know about it so i left it alone. Now i have 3 different difficulty on imbue and socket quest non use yet haha. In case one day i really need it

yea, they're basically just another, more limited (but better odds) version of gambling :)

I played Diablo back when it came out, and across the 10-15 characters I ever made, I probably only imbued 2-3 times because I always saved it in case I needed it.

I do Tiaras a lot because I literally never find Diadems, though my pref is always Dias, and I save all imbues on all chars for them to get a minimum lv20 (just a personal thing ive always done,) then I'll go through and do all of em in one go for x number of characters, I find it pretty fun

@@Alzorath pretty sure its much lower just not as low as diadems, but either way, I only use one per char unless I have a better helm, which I usually do, then ill just forgot I even have imbues on my chars until I get a random base whatever I want to up

73 (clvl) + 4 (imbue bonus) + 13 (magic lvl) = 90, minimum necessary to get +2 all skills :) (worth noting Tiaras have a minimum affix level of 83 - so you can get level 83 affixes no matter what level you imbue it at :)

what about berserker axes where you just want cruel's/fools mod and you don't care about +skills? is it okay to imbue them on a lvl 8 character?

love the video, I will be watching it many times, do you have a video about runewords, and I have been trying to find a full list of them, both my toons are lvl 28 and cant kill Diablo, I've only been playing solo except for A2 boss on both.. I was about to start a new toon and get Imbune and use it, but I found it wont work for what I need for my lvl 28's

Any suggestions on what items to imbue for a fire druid that will turn windy druid here pretty soon on NM act 4ish? Don't even know if my druid can use some of those items

Generally, if I don't need my imbue for supplemental gear, I save it for high level imbues - generally speaking for solo self-found characters, that means I might do some boots/gloves/belt for resists, but otherwise save it for post game for a roll at either a good circlet/diadem, or class-specific helm.

I'm not big on the trading environment of D2 - I've always preferred being a 'need for need' trader, rather than a 'haggle this paperclip until I get a lambo" type trader (that said, as a creator, I don't think I can give fair numbers for trades, since if people know it's me, it can skew the trade up or down a bit more than the average player)

I was wondering if imbuing an ethereal dimensional blade or crystal sword would be a good idea in order to then upgrade them to an ethereal indestructible phase blade. And if so what would be the ideal character level to imbue them at?

I wouldn't personally recommend it, I would save my imbue for other more reliable things (Diadems for example - though in SSF play I'll often do gloves/boots/belts for characters to round out their gear, or if I already have good items in those slots, I'll start dipping into class specific items)

ok I tried to find what affixes exist at lvl 94 and I couldn't find any, so that means there is something I don't understand. I always thought the +2 to class skills is the highest affix lvl at 90, so you need lvl 86 character if you want to imbue a circlet for instance.

94 is actually for staffmods, due to how they work, 94 is where you peak out on them - mid 80s will cover most items (some can even go as low as the low-70s for ideal mods)

Would you suggest to imbue a sacred rondache?

not really, there's way better socketed options... for the most part the GG shield options are super uncommon (I literally only have one rare shield I've found over the years, and it's a necro head, that is better than a runeword/unique in the same slot... but it is possible if you're lucky enough)

nope, normal speed on this video (I have done some videos with sped up footage for other purposes though) - just faster run/walk, and usually favoring light armor (though tal's is medium)

Best way to get a +3 nova orb that’s still usable for a lvl 12 character? Imbue or reroll?

that's a tough one - both are going to be far more expensive than the return unless you are specifically targetting level 12 pvp (not sure how common that is these days, I usually stuck to level 9 and level 30 for lld back in the day though) I would say, time-wise, rerolling would be faster - especially since you'd need to level for the imbue.

Thanks I’ll keep at it! I like to twinked speedrun for socket quests lol. I’ve gotten some decent rerolls but they can be req lvl as high as 24 sometimes. I actually found a 1 nova 10 fcr in the catacombs straight up. Best one so far.

Always use imbue quest on white diadems from Hell level 85 areas, thats my take

Doesn't need to be from a level 85 area, but if you're not wanting to aim for specific things, Diadems are a safe choice.

I do have a question. What about normal (white) items with modifiers already on it (superior, damaged, etc.). Can those be imbued, and if so, will it impact the roll? Over all, this is a great video! I appreciate the time and effort you put into it.

yes, all white items can be imbued, and no, it doesn't make an impact on the final item (neither do natural staffmods) - only 'basic' item that can't be imbued are socketed

diadem, if it bricks, reroll with 6Pskulls in cube.

there are a lot of items that can be rolled into "good items" - though, quadradus is correct in that diadem is the only "all modifiers" reroll item... that said, there are other items that do that reroll formula, but they're far more niche use.

Mostly the multiplayer lobby aspect and single-player "player count options" are the main issues with the console version that I'm aware of.

That would be a several hour long video to go through every potentially useful item... especially when we take into account different modifier goals. Going for a +2 all skills, +3 clay golem wand is going to be a lot different than going for a +2 all skills +3 Poison Nova wand...
