I did it with Watcher (she is my favourite character, just super powerful and skill-intensive). 5 Pressure Plates, a few Third Eyes and Cut Through Fate are pretty good in a small deck. I found it hard to withhold the urge to take an Uncommon/Rare card actually. There is no downside to taking a specific rarity card normally, so our brain is trained to ignore rarity. Same with taking relics on Who Needs Relics? achievement. Very hard to abstain from.

Did it on Ironclad with a Perfected Strike deck on Ascencion 1. At first I was kind of surprised that you didn't mention Perfected Strike, but, thinking about it now, I realize that it indeed may not have been that great of an idea since the deck got pretty bloated (27 cards, including one curse and 4 Wild Strikes constantly putting Wounds in); I do remember struggling with drawing block sometimes because of that. Probably the reason I succeeded was because I got really lucky with the starting gift: got the Shovel from Neow and dug out the Singing Bowl at the first campfire, which resulted in me finishing the run with 129 max HP and 33 relics.

I determined that orb spam (Ball Lightning and Cold Snap) would be a good way to do it so I went Defect for this achievement. It was a fun run!

Watcher cause.. watcher things are watcher things even at common. Got the 1 relic only achievement in the same run even without a swap (mostly because I didn't know if that was allowed for the achievement)

I actually got both Common Sense and Who Needs Relics? using Defect after watching an old "All Achievements" video of yours on the archive account. Took a few (many) tries, but got much better with this silly robot in the process!

The game doesn't actually track which cards you add, it just looks at your deck at the end. In other words, you can have rares to help you get started as long as you remove them before the final boss. It's a cheesy tactic, sure, but as far as the game is concerned, the achievement is still valid. Oh, and JAX is a colorless common card (I had it in my CS run as Ironclad).

Technically it's special not common, but it has a grey banner and the achievement states specifically "no uncommons or rares", you can have special cards (and you can have curses too)

I got mine by accident during my Ironclad minimalist run. Turns out 2 shrug it offs and a body slam are really strong with a sundial. Even managed to kill transient on that run too!

Ha! Same happened to me to. Failed Minimalist by one card but realised I had made Common Sense! (I had one rare which I shed after a few levels as it didn't synergize the way I'd hoped).

I'd argue for playing on Ascension 1 - extra elites are extra relics, and they're not too challenging without late ascension modifiers. That's how I did most of my challenges anyway.

Got this achievement after watching the vid, thanks! Tried it with Silent and loaded up on Cloak and Daggers early on which allowed me to block and attack for one energy. Picked up a couple of Blade Dances later and lucked into a Shuriken as my last relic before Act 3 boss. GG!

Just got my common sense run! Did it on silent but with a floor 4 prismatic shard, had a deck of 1 cost attack cards from every character and shuriken to scale my damage into the lategame

I beat my common sense with a hologram-streamline deck. Had 3 upgraded streamlines and as many holograms as I could find so each one was 20 damage and 5 block

as you say, defect has a ton of high-value commons and at A1 picking claw every time is just as correct as it always is, so it was a cold snap!

Got a win on watcher with sash whip+ , defend+, vigilance+, pressure points+, and bowling bash+. Got screwed by the falling event like you predicted, but still managed to win. (Thanks to the video of course)

That was one of the single biggest "play a shiv deck" I've ever seen a game offer. Accuracy, shiv relic, 2 or 3 blade dances and 2 cloak and daggers plus 2 strength pots. I was crying lol

i did it first trie with ironclad heavyblade brimestone relic (no seeded). I was lucky i picked those early! also i picked am uncommon and a rare by mucle memory but i discarded them at shop and the achievment still counted

Is it ever rational to take one early non-common with the intent of removing it in act 3? Is it ever worth the removal? I could envision taking Alchemize, for instance, to get exactly the potions you want for the Act 3 boss and then removing it at the latest shop.

That to me just seems like a lot of extra fuss if you’re playing on low or non ascension. If you cranked up the difficulty though it would probably be the way to go I think.

I do not believe so. They do not add cards to the deck. Just create cards in a fight

Got this achivement first try with ease using ironclad, without even watching any guides before Got a girya very early, and that gave me enough damage to plow through most fights
