New to tripods. Picked up the Radian the other day. Awesome tips for new shooters!

I liked hearing the Sandhill Cranes in the background. Good video. I am a wildlife and nature photographer and use tripods nearly all the time. I like ball heads for their versatility. Never used a tripod for shooting... may need to give that a try. I like the videos you guys do. Keep them coming.

2 questions. 1. What is the model number of that tripod? 2. What gun is that you have mounted?
@VortexOpticsUSA3 жыл бұрын
Hey Marc - this is the Radian Carbon Tripod + Ball Head (TR-RADB): vortexoptics.com/radian-carbon-ball-head-tripod-kit.html The gun is a custom build on an MDT chasis.

What type of base should you fix on the underside of Blaser rifle to fix it on the tripod? Synthetic stock

Hi I just wanted to ask ye how do you stop the reticle from shaking with your heartbeat while using a tripod?
@VortexOpticsUSA3 жыл бұрын
That is something that will come with practice and working on your breathing. Controlling your breathing is going to be the key factor there. Work on taking deep breaths and pulling the trigger at the end of your exhale. Another trick is to try not to manipulate the rifle itself too much. The tripod is going to hold it steady. The most your grab and try to pull the rifle in you will notice more movement from your heartbeat.

Look up vagal maneuver. With practice, you can decrease your heart rate. Buy a cheap HR monitor, and PRACTICE. Do not shoot with a T-shirt, but rather something a bit more thick and stiff. Also, use a gloved hand. Even fingerless. The palmar artery goes right through, you guessed it, your palm. This is often the source of movement in crosshairs. Good tripod shooting takes lots of practice. I recommend at least 100 dry fire rounds per 1 round you send down range. Watch your crosshairs bounce. Work with different positions and tweaks to see what works best. At the end of the day, you're going to have to learn to shoot after the second beat. MORE DRY FIRE PRACTICE will help with learning to precisely time shots. Also, dry fire practice

Would staking the legs down (such as you would a tent spike) lessen the movement upon the shot, or does this tripod system essentially stop all the movement. Seeing you rock it makes me think it would rock when I fire. Thanks
@VortexOpticsUSA2 жыл бұрын
It certainly would lessen movement, but shouldn't be necessary. The Radian is designed to be shot off of.

I guess you can use a sturdy gimbal for this kind of task and Rifle and that could solve many problems.
