When you connect the iPad and then look iPad display options do you only get SDR ticked or can you select HDR? I only get SDR as an option. I’m using iPad Pro M2 with the official Apple USBC multiport adapter and an ultra up to 8K HDMI connected to a Sony 4K TV that has HDR10 capabilities.. I’m stumped!

That does sound odd - unsure why it’s not letting you select HDR (short of the monitor not supporting it, although you’ve indicated that it does). In any case, I’ll pin this comment in case somebody else knows the answer

That was a great run through! I’m like you in that I tend to use split screen more. There are times though, stage manager makes more sense. Specifically if I want 3 or 4 apps in a stack so I can access them quickly. Cheers!

Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! Once you know how to use it and what to expect of it, it comes in really handy in a select number of cases

@@sukhdeepsm I can vouch for it as a sales carry. I'm a corporate rep and it works great for that. Think in some retail situations it would be a great option as well barring software compatibility issues. My situation is web based.

@@jimtipton8888 Wow that was really insightful. I always love hearing how people outside of the content creation bubble use their iPads during day-to-day use. Thank you for sharing!

This was a great video, very informative. I’ve just gone from Air 4 to 6 and was looking for a good run through of Stage Manager as I’ve never used it before.

I’ve been trying to shift from using mostly my iPad and sometimes my Windows machine (for daily tasks) to almost exclusively iPad and only windows for gaming or when I’m at work. There is definitely a learning curve but it’s very convenient to have my main communication and my main computing needs through the same machine, that happens to be very mobile and lightweight. Also, despite iPad apps crashing out sometimes, it’s not like on Windows where I still get blue screens and other issues on the daily also. What I’ve found to be the best strategy is to use the touchscreen, an Apple magic trackpad, and a cheaper bluetooth mouse for dragging tasks. Very ergonomic and adaptable. I’ve found that the iPad also focuses me.

Nice video, for me I’m the same only use it on external monitor setup when using luma fusion use a hub with mechanical keyboard ssd sdcard reader mouse etc and it’s a nice makeshift desktop for the most part

That sounds like a sick setup - love that you’ve got a mechanical keyboard too, I eventually want to start looking into those once I’ve saved up some money 😅 Thanks for sharing!

Could you talk more about your iPad and Mac workflow, how you use them together and separate? Thanks

Could do - I'll make a note of it. Thanks for suggesting :)

I haven‘t turned stage manager off, since it was available, but I turned of the side bar with the recent apps. It takes up too much space for me 😅.

Haha yes, gotta maximise the screen space available 😅

Does the regular Apple USB-C charging cable work for connecting an external monitor? Also, is it possible to use an external monitor with only a mouse?
@sukhdeepsm2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not - doesn’t have enough bandwidth. You might be able to connect with only a mouse and not having a keyboard, but (1) not sure how you’re going to properly use the device without a keyboard (2) it’s a hit or miss; sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, and the best advice is to have a keyboard connected in case it doesn’t work
@jamessaviationirl2 ай бұрын
@sukhdeepsmThanks for the response. Would getting a USB-C hub be an alternative solution rather than splashing out on a thunderbolt cable?
@jamessaviationirl2 ай бұрын
@sukhdeepsmI believe that connecting only a mouse prompts the iPad to display a digital keyboard when required on device. I could be wrong about this.
@sukhdeepsm2 ай бұрын
@ absolutely - although noting that I wouldn’t consider Thunderbolt cables to be very expensive. I picked one up from Anker a while back that set me back around £19 here in the UK, which is a lot cheaper than most decent hubs. Appreciate that what’s considered expensive is all relative, and a hub may offer you other connectivity benefits that a single cable doesn’t, but thought it’s worth flagging that in case useful
@jamessaviationirl2 ай бұрын
@sukhdeepsmAppreciate it mate, good to know. Unfortunately Anker is unavailable in Ireland therefore I’m pretty limited with my options. I don’t mind paying €79 for an Apple Thunderbolt 5 cable if that’s what I need.

Bro i have no pc or computable device All I have ipad monitor keyboard and mouse+adopter So will it work without cpu or pc
@sukhdeepsm2 ай бұрын
Yeah no need for a CPU/PC, as long as the adapter/cable support the necessary transfer speeds (noting that this varies depending on the monitor used, but I imagine most will suffice)
@Himanshukumar-ht3hy2 ай бұрын
@sukhdeepsm ok then which type and category of monitor I need? And I have iPad air 5th gen
@sukhdeepsm2 ай бұрын
Any monitor should work - look for a USB-C one ideally. It’s pretty standard nowadays - but some cheaper monitors may only support HDMI which in my experience is a hassle to deal with I used an Apple Studio Display in my setup, but there are plenty of more affordable options like the Dell u27020q.
