I have been playing for about 15 years. There are some instructors who make a real impression for players. I owe a lot to Andy Aledort and all of his efforts in GW. You are at that level for me. I understand your lessons and learn the concepts you teach. Big fan right here.

Very good lessen and licks demonstration! The hardest part of using notes from this scale is in the timing. It feels alien/offbeat is you never used it making a connection to the IV chord. It takes time to absorb the timing feel.

Great lesson Jack, thanks. Looks like you have to alter the fingering of that lick in the 3rd position, so that the final note (5:12 in the video) hits the C (a chord tone of C7) rather than the C#, which wouldn’t fit?

But being built off the C half whole diminished scale, that C# not only fits but resolves beautifully back to the C7 (look ma' I'm learning)

There's something I'm not quite getting. When you played the lick up the minor thirds the third time at 5:07, you didn't actually play the last two notes of that lick a 1/2 step apart (i.e. one fret apart) as you had previously, but rather one step (i.e. two frets apart) and ending on C rather than C#. So it doesn't appear to be the exact same lick. Why was this the case? If you had played that lick the exact same way as the previous two licks, each a minor third down the neck, you would land on C# and not C...and C# is not in the C7 chord. I'm a bit confused. Can you tell me if I have missing something?

Hoi Jack, could you do a lesson on some pointers how to build lines with double stops in a way that might transcend the usual 'countrypoint' (although theres an awful lot of cool stuff to be found there) I have been trying to develop playing with two lines for ever and im kind of terrified that im just a simple single line player. A little hope to become a slightly more pianistic guitarplayer would be great... Groeten!
