I love the styles of modern machines, So beautiful and clean artistic designs!

Look cool but a pain to work in. Almost gave to be a contortionist

Trust me artistic design is the last thing on my mind while on a machine. I want it to have easy access to the work zone and ease of set up. If that means it looks like it survived a train wreck I don't mind one bit.

Looks like they should have spent more time on the ergonomics and less on the looks. That button layout would drive me nuts

As another commenter mentioned, I'm feeling in the stone age ... standing in front of my brand new Haas Mini Mill 2 but I thoroughly enjoy my machine. The console on the Walter is oh so nice!

It will be nice to see how you calibrate this machine, please!

Dang, but you gotta be the highest paid machinist in the shop. So much to know

Wow, every time I see Scott on this machine it blows my mind.....Does Walter have a specific CAD program for designing end mills and tools....or do you have to generate the Gcode in something like F360...?
@TheSuperH2SO43 жыл бұрын
Program has a pre set model for generic endmill, you can adjust everything once the general model is made, number of cutting edges, radius / no radius, end face, fluting and everything else
@parmesanjon3 жыл бұрын
with tool studio you don't have to do any gcode work. thesuperh2so4 is correct, there's presets for flute count/rad size/profiles etc that you can change just about anything on, within limitation of the grinding wheels and machine you have. That designed tool then can just be seamlessly sent to the tool studio server, and run on the machine

I wonder if you could use Numeroto software on the Walter. I worked at a shop that used a Walter machine for grinding Hobs and that machine used Schneeburger software. I just like Numeroto better especially for form tools.

Cool beans. Never used anything like that before.

Just remember if you want to buy a machine like this buying the machine is great and all but the upkeep on some of these machines will cost as much as the machine or more over the next 5 to 7 years.

If these are anything like CNC glass machines (the field in which I work), it's all about the preventative maintenance and how the operator treats it. If you don't clean it, feed it dirty coolant/water and/or air, and crash often... it's going to cost you.
@wendull8113 жыл бұрын
@@willsparklin I work on a large bed lathe and our company dosen't maintain it at all. We have had the lathe for 8 years with the original manufacturers oil in it running it 24 hours a day 5 days a week plus Saturdays for 5 hours. Then they wondered why they needed to rebuild the headstock and can't get the machine to run consistently. Preventative maitnince is your best friend.
@iamchillydogg3 жыл бұрын
What percentage of the profits is that though?
@wendull8113 жыл бұрын
@@iamchillydogg I have no idea but it could be higher if you took about 5 hours out of a day which you can schudle to change the oil versus having the machine suddenly go down for 2 weeks while waiting on parts and no other place to run the parts due to the large size. Also now your production is 2 weeks behind and you just pissed off a bunch of customers.
@iamchillydogg3 жыл бұрын
@@wendull811 Ok but how much does that proper maintenance cost which is what your comment was about.

I thought this CNC machine was going to have OpenCV Computer Vision on it. We use OpenCV for locating drill holes or other markers for automatically positioning a CNC. NewRAD CNC v1 3 with Cameras and OpenCV kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXqmco1-r6x_rdE
