I've worked as a design engineer for the past 40 years even before this type of machining was a thing. Because I was part of a team that developed experimental stuff way beyond the comfort zone of most businesses, practically at the edge of the possible, I often got the shop manager complaining that my ideas were either not possible, too difficult or would take too long to machine. It often meant revising my drawings to accommodate the shortcomings of our machines and I was never happy about it. And then CAD and CNC machining came into my life and I felt I'd entered heaven. I still get complaints, but we have a couple of "artists" in the machine shop who love to crack such problems. I just have to tell them nobody can do the job because... and that's enough for them to sit down and get to work.
