Those landscapes are really beautiful, such a beautiful view to wake up to. Speaking of waking up... I've heard people mention hostels a lot! But I've never stayed in one and this is my first look at a dorm in a hostel. I haven't really looked up information on them since my whole family would probably not be able to fit, lol.

You could get a complete dorm room for your family ;) They're okay at time. I used to stay in them a lot, but now I tend to book hotels. Once I started working... ;)

The owners of the guest house are Dutch and Yangshuo is a popular place to travel to, also for Dutch people. Most Dutch people will stay at their place so they offer this Dutch dish.

You're right the landscapes in China are very varied! We had spiky mountains like the ones in your video, grasslands, flatlands, and then desert out in Xinchiang Province! The hostel looked pretty nice as well!

Xinjiang is a province I have yet to go to... I've seen beaches, grasslands and desert too. Where else in China did you travel?

I can't believe you got served a meal on a airplane. I only get meals on planes if it is international flight. The mountains look so different than any mountains I have ever seen. I don't get the Mayo on fries thing but the peanut sauce sound like that could be good.

It takes a couple of hours to go from Beijing to Guilin actually, so it's not a surprise they serve food on a domestic flight like this. It doesn't happen on all domestic flights though. Have you tried mayo? My husband, who is from the US as well, wasn't too sure about it at first, but now he chooses mayo over ketchup :D

How beautiful! I live in China but I haven't been to Guilin yet, but it does look comparable to Zhangjiajie where I have been. I love spontaneous trips and hopefully I can go here too! Thanks for sharing, your videos always make me feel like I'm traveling with you :)

Not at all! The hostel had decent prices and some parts of my trip were sponsored.

How much are taxis there? I always feel uncomfortable bargaining but I know that's part of traveling! Did you travel this entire journey on your own? So cool! Did you have to room with anyone at the hostel?

The taxis in town were about 20rmb ($2,50). They tried to charge me double ;) It helps I speak the language and kinda know what prices are like. Just ask the place you're staying at what prices should be like. Then you go from there and it might make you more comfortable bargaining. This trip to Yangshuo was all by myself. It was just a couple of days away from Beijing (where I live).

Hoi Michal! Bedankt voor je berichtje. Het is niet moeilijk om en kaartje te kopen. Men spreekt er wel voldoend Engels om dat te kunnen. Zeker omdat Guilin en Yangshuo zo populair zijn. Lukt het je zelf niet dan kan je hotel je ongetwijfeld helpen. Heb je plannen om naar Guilin te gaan?

@@GoYvon Ja, hoor. Op 9 juni vliegen we (mijn vrouw en ik) van Amsterdam naar Beijing, en dan op 11 juni veder naar Guiling. Richting Yangshuo, natuurlijk. Daar gaan we rond 10 dagen blijven. Zo, zullen we een hotel alvast booken?

Was there a difficult language barrier in your travels? From the looks of it that you were able to manage well off!

It was quite okay. The accents are a bit different in this area, but in general I was able to get around just fine.

Oh really? Eastern is fine to me, never had any real problems. They often have delays, but that's a common thing for domestic flights ;)
