Wouldn't say best method, maybe most efficient, you can craft gatling lasers with super duper on and scrapper to minimize material usage but you can craft 100 fusion cores in 5 seconds, scrap the gatlings

When you craft them you get the cores, you scrap em to get some resources back

Only part that catches up over time are the fiber optics requirements. For me at least I only have 400 or so. Don't forget the science perk which reduces material cost for energy weapons
