Big thanks. I was 0 for about 40 at getting up in water sports until I watched your video. After watching it took 3 tries and now I can get up every time. Your tips for the driver were key when working with beginners. I'll be sharing this video to my friends and family in the same position.

Chantel has some great tips here, appreciated! For those with an older wakeboat, you can create a surfable wave with the use of an aftermarket wake shaper surf gate like a NautiCurl. Simply attach to the hull with it's easy to stick suction cups and evenly distribute ballast. Cheers from the NautiCurl crew and good luck out there!

@ChantelBoats4 жыл бұрын
Try having the driver get you on the right side of the boat before pulling you up so you don’t have to go down the huge face! Or get stuck in the white wash!
@amyhenderson75653 жыл бұрын
I do this too even when I start on the correct side. I get stuck on top of the white water and can’t get down then fall.

Do you just mash the throttle down when starting out? So I am in forward drive, 1st position just out of neutral, cruise control set, and I was told by the previous owner to just pin the throttle. Boat goes like a bat out of hell and then dials down once surf speed is hit per cruise control (currently set at 10.8 mph). Is this bad for the boat? Should I ease into the throttle vs. doing what I stated above? Same question for wakeboarding? Boat is a 2018 Moomba Mondo with every option. 🙏

Bigger guy at about 220lbs. I can surf fine with the rope but can’t find a spot in the wake or foot position that’ll let me let go of the rope. Thought moving my front foot forward and toward the toes would help but thinking I need to use a bigger board. Do you think there’s a minimum surface area or volume for someone my size?
@ChantelBoats Жыл бұрын
A bigger board will definitely help! What boat are you surfing behind?

@@ChantelBoats well a moomba and a Malibu. Found that setting the wedge to a higher number on the Malibu definitely helped. Was finally able to go without the rope. Haven’t tried the moomba since.

I am a new boater and new to wakesurfing. When you pull a surfer out of the water how fast should the driver go or what is the correct process to pull someone up? Thanks for your excellent videos!

When you start to speed up more make sure there is no slack it is easier for the surfer😃
@ChantelBoats4 жыл бұрын
That's a hard one without being able to be in person to show you! I'd say medium is the best way to describe it. Don't hammer the throttle, don't make it so slow that they can't stand up. The more you pull, the better at it you will get!

Hi Chantel, i have been wearing life jacket and able to do carving and ollie. But now when i tried to wakesurf without life jacket, i find it difficult to get up without having my head underwater for 1-2 seconds before the boat pulls me up. Any tips to share on that please?
@ChantelBoats3 жыл бұрын
yeah, always wear your life jacket! It's not worth the risk to ever be behind a boat without one!
@ThePlaton202 жыл бұрын
I noticed that this video shows the board coming up immediately on top of the water. Is that the way it always is? I ask this because when I do wakeboarding, the board always goes completely under the water for 3-5 seconds before it pops on top of the water. For wake surfing, the board is not supposed to go under the water at all?
@ChantelBoats2 жыл бұрын
It's easier (especially for beginners) if it doesn't go under the water, as it would be easier to catch the edge and not be able to pull out. But, if that is how you get up on a wakeboard, you'll likely not have a problem getting up.
@gcrisefi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this video. I am starting on the correct side of our boat but I still end up on top of the white wash and have to come down that to get to the part of the wake I need to be in. I have shortened our rope to keep me on the side of the boat but I still end up behind. Is there anything else I am not doing that can help me? I’d love to just pop up in the wake where I am supposed to be. Thank you !
@ChantelBoats3 жыл бұрын
This is somewhere where your boat driver can really help you out. Make sure you are over to the side you want to ride on before you start getting pulled up, and then have your boat driver turn just a little bit towards that same side as you get up. Also really concentrated on pushing the board over to that side as you get up. You'll get it!
@Megtaf974 жыл бұрын
I've seen people that wake surf let go of the rope. Do you recommend a beginner to do that and if so when do you recommend someone to let go of the rope?
@ChantelBoats4 жыл бұрын
Check out our video How to Throw the Rope! That will help! kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXLac4F-mKlri7c
@Paewraul4 жыл бұрын
The whole intent is to drop the rope. But you can’t do so until you can ride the push of the wave. You need to be able to find, feel, and stay in that pocket. I’ve helped several beginners learn to get up and surf and no matter how many times you explain that dropping the rope comes with practice and won’t happen the first time out, they’re going to drop it anyway because they want to surf without it so badly. Best bet is to find the push and surf with the rope slack until you can effortlessly and routinely keep up with the boat. That way you can get back into place with a quick tug from the boat instead of drifting behind and constant pickups.

I mean... if you are already a really good ocean surfer you might be able to make that work, but doing it the way we show in the video is going to be much much easier. But if you want to try it, go for it, would be fun to try.

Hey Rosie, the board I was using is small and easy to get up on, but pretty loose once you're up. It's the Ronix Women's Carbon Skimmer, here is a link to the new version: www.activewake.com/shop/aws-pro-shop/wakesurf-womens/2021-ronix-womens-carbon-air-core-3-skimmer-wakesurf-board-pre-order/ or I really like the the Liquid Force Primo: www.activewake.com/shop/aws-pro-shop/wakesurf/liquid-force-2021-primo-ltd-w-straps/ (easier for a beginner)

no mention of whether to turn to your left or right (which foot forward)?
@ChantelBoats3 жыл бұрын
It's different for everyone, if you skateboard or snowboard, it will be the same. To do a quick test, give someone the handle while they are standing in the boat (feet shoulder-width apart) and pull the rope so they step forward. Whichever foot they step forward with is the foot they'll have forward. You could also try both ways and see which one feels more natural!

Somewhere between 9 and 11 typically. What size/model do you have? May be that you just don't have enough ballast in the boat to get a wake with enough push. Are you filling up all the ballast and using a surf shaper?

Can I tie the wakesurf rope on the side handlers of my boat but not up it’ll be in a low level ‘
@ChantelBoats4 жыл бұрын
You can but I wouldn’t. The angle when the rope is high on the tower is so much better than if the rope were attached lower. Pulls the rider UP instead of straight. I would pick that over getting them on the side.

I still can’t get up and I’m getting frustrated. I feel like I get ripped over the top of the board just as I’m starting to stand up :(
@ttvdecimatedbyme91303 жыл бұрын
Keep your knees tucked in tight to your body and keep them there until your up. You can come all the way crouched down and then stand up once your riding. If you stay knees flexed and don’t try to stand up too early the boat should pop your right up. Also make sure you have a big enough board. Good luck.

Chantel Boats good advice, bc I do feel like when I’m in the boat watching other, more experienced riders they just kinda full throttle it LOL and as a newbie, maybe I need slower? I can get the board to me feet, turn and start to stand and then just get yanked over it and the board seems to go under (I think part of this is me not turning the board enough and being straight on to the boat) thank you so much for this advice.
