Wow….now I only know how complicated it is to get a driving license in sg…. I’ve gone through my driving test in Malaysia and just gotten my driving licence last month! It is so much easier and cheaper to get a driving licence in Malaysia. We just need to take a theory exam using a computer at the jpj centre. Then after passing the theory lesson, we will get a learner’s driving licence and proceed to the circuit learning. After 20 hours of learning, we will then take a circuit exam (kpp02)and on the road exam(kpp03). If all three exams has passed, we will get them get our driving licence! The fee is about 1600 ringgit including all courses fee and exams fee! Fun fact: taking a auto transmission license in Malaysia is a bit pricey than taking a manual transmission license 😂

Done mine with a private instructor 7 years back, attached to SSDC. Black, Toyota Vios. Instructor is the 老 cheekopek kind of uncle that will scold and physically hit you if you done anything wrong 🤣 During lesson hours, will take his own sweet time going to the toilet, chit chatting with other instructors while awaiting for entry clearance to the circuit at the guardroom and lastly, will sleep. Legit sleep. Like red turns green, his foot stuck upon his brake pedal kinda sleep. Car interior also features “Cheats”. Will have indicators to showcase where the tyres are at. Will have arrows to pinpoint on when to fully lock the steering wheel 😅 Oh wells, there goes the car, few years later, crashed and was heavily damaged during a driving test by another student. I'm a foreigner from Canada who drove for many years but let my license expire...and now need to get a local license all over again, and one thing I would say is that the process of getting a driver's license in Singapore is not anything close to straight forward. In Canada, there's a very easy multiple choice test - nothing about blood alcohol levels or laws for trucks since you won't be doing any of that, and then you can drive in the daytime with any licensed driver (my mom taught me), no formal lessons necessary, for as long as you want until you feel ready to book the practical. Once you pass the practical, you're done. Singapore is actually very complex and very...unique.

It's complicated here as Singapore has an extensive public transport system, unlike Canada (and the United States) which are car-centric societies. The Singaporean goverment discourages using a car as a mode of transportation. In contrast, a Canadian/American driving license is deliberately made much easier with a lower barrier of entry, or else most Canadians/Americans will have a lot of difficulties getting anywhere around especially if they do not live in a major city.

I'm in the same condition as you, from the US. The most outrageous part is how the queues to even do the various steps are months and months. Idiotic policies requiring you to appear in person for no reason. It's all designed to be inefficient and slow the process down, to discourage driving.

Passed my Class 3 License 2 weeks ago in CDC. went for 27 practical lessons under One Team and need to pay extra a few dollars for it. During TP, u just need to be yourself and drive like u always do in ur practical lessons. Depending on the tester, sometimes he will give u chance and some close 1 eye when you hit the kerb or did a minor mistakes. Goodluckkk

Hi, yes, your FTT result is only valid for 2 years from the date passed. After that, you'll have to retake the FTT. The BTT has no expiry date. - Jay
