Anyways I would wait until the buds are just about to open and then you can bring it inside :)

Thanks for a very helpful video. I've had no luck getting any buds on three cuttings planted a few years ago. I was thinking of combining them. Can you tell me if they like to be pot bound? ALso, my cuttings form lots of new leaves off of one leaf rather than new shoots from the soil. Do you think I should cut these off? Thank you so much .
@westcoastgardenguy19904 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) I’m glad you found it helpful. I noticed that when I pot my cuttings up into larger pots with new soil they tend to push out a lot of new growths so I think that they like having some room rather than being pot bound. I think it’s normal for them to grow new growths off the leaves so you can either bury your plant deeper or break off some of the new growths and plant them back into your pot - at least that’s what I do :)
@tomokitty21534 жыл бұрын

I have A different variant and it likes to be pot bound. In fact they said to not put them into big pots even if it seems like a good idea. However my neighbor has this variant in the ground and does really well. Of course I can’t compare because I i’m super lazy and barely do anything other than enjoy the flowers and maybe she does a lot of care. For the ones with white flowers, keeping them in relatively small pots and generally “stressed out“ works for most blooms. However, the branches that are reddish/brownish and uglier looking invariably make more blooms than the ones that look green and “healthy”.

Do you ever get issues with the leaves burning in full sun? I have some cuttings and one established plant and the established plant got sunburned. I made a little shade canopy for their outside location, but there's a small section that won't be shaded for at least a couple hours. I put them back, for now, in my little greenhouse thingie which is shaded, but I'm a bit paranoid about taking them out.
@westcoastgardenguy19904 жыл бұрын
No - I mean they get a bit weathered sometimes and a little bit of sun damage but I have never had the leaves burn. Maybe increase the light little by little for your young plant and I think that your canopy is a great idea :)
@1chienandalou3 жыл бұрын
I don’t have this color but I have the Hookeri variant and I would say do NOT worry or try to prune away those “burnt” leaves if they look red or brown or even wrinkled. Even completely dried looking ones have sometimes given rise to new growth. I’ve had mine for nearly 15 years and I know for a fact that those are the branches that make the most blooms. The ones that are reddish/brownish. I think a lot of people tend to want to water more or think there’s something wrong and without the blooms it can kind of look ugly. But if you want flowers, you will get tons of them from those branches compared to the green ones.
@1chienandalou3 жыл бұрын
Also it seems this plant is impossible to kill completely. I’ve had cuttings that I left out too long before propagating only to find that they bloom anyway. Like disembodied branches of the plant can make full-size flowers a month after they’ve been taken out of soil. They can take a lot of ignoring and even hardship and still come back or even thrive. This pink variant a neighbor A few streets down gave to me a cutting last year and it has taken, but it hasn’t grown much except for an abandoned bloom i’m still hanging in there, so possibly this one and my Hookeri like different things. I’m in Southern California and keep it outdoors all year in pots. My neighbor Who had the same pink flower version is this has them planted in the ground so also our year round. Mine wants less water. And starving them off of water after blooming season for a month or two is correlated with more blooms the next year.

Hello, Help... I have the white Queen of the Night, my neighbor gave me a leaf back in 1999. It took years before I finally got it to bloom.2yrs in a row it had 8 blooms on it. This year however I saw 1 forming then dried up & fell off. I have it planted in premium organic pro mix. My issue is when the dirt dries out some, I water it then the leaves go wrinkled & wither. But now I have noticed the leaves are turning pale yellow at the ends, then goes brown & dries up as it goes down the leaves towards the plants main stock. I took my smaller plant of the two & took it out of the dirt. The roots appear to have white fungi growing on them. I washed the dirt off as best I could sprinkled a little hydrogen peroxide & water to kill the fungi. But I am not sure if this is the actual cause of the plant turning. The fungus is not thick on it. Now Iam wondering should I use 3/4s pro mix & add a 1/8th more perlite & a 1/8 of cacti & orchard mix for dirt. As I find the straight pro mix holds water too much I think instead of draining away quickly. But like I said as the dirt dries out I water & the leaves wrinkle. My plant is in my master bathroom which has south-facing sun. It loves it in there, when it gets to warm I give it a fine mist. But I have never seen anyone mention that they have had problems like I have with the leaves turning. Hope you can help, thank you.
@westcoastgardenguy1990 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what to say about this. I would probably take some cuttings and then replant your plant into some different soil and let it get a little bit dry in between waterings so that it doesn’t stay wet. Hope that helps!

I think it depends on your conditions but I keep them quite moist so I water them once a week or so and I usually leave them standing in water so that they can soak the moisture up from the bottom. They can dry out and will tolerate that but I find mine grow better wetter :) Hope that helps!
