Thank you! Every time I think I am out of ideas I come up with something! Some are better than others. I think my viewers are split. Some just like the Frontosas and some just like my other fish! It makes it interesting!

Solid info, I never really thought about the eating habits being related to breeding but it makes sense.

You are a successful breeder! May you continue to have many more batches of baby frontosas! Thank you for letting me as well as others know you feed shrimp to your frontosas!

Great video! I'll have to try feeding some chopped up shrimp 🍤 I usually feed northfin currently and blood worms once a week.

Thanks! Let me know how they respond to the shrimp or make a video showing them eat it!

Thanks! I have a flirting pair in a fairly crowded 125 with gravel substrate. Should I pull them out and put them in a sand bottom tank by themselves?

Hi there do I need to remove the mother cichlid from the tank so the others will not eat her babies? Is it safe to leave her there?
@tkaiser20865 жыл бұрын
You should do a video of a fish tour of all your tanks

good one Ricky, next video can you take about care of the eggs, either by u or by the female? also my front dig alot, your seem to leave the substrate alone?
@RickyKenerlyCichlids7 жыл бұрын
I have videos that show my males move the sand but that footage is scattered among many videos. Sometimes I smooth out he sand and sometimes I leave it alone! I do usually smooth the sand out when I do a water change and they just mess it up later! I will make a video on egg care once one of my females are holding again! I want to have some relevant footage to go with what I am talking about! It is a good topic and I won't forget it! Thanks for watching and asking a couple of questions!

Should I keep the male & female fronts in a tank alone, for them to breed ?
@RickyKenerlyCichlids4 жыл бұрын
I have done it both ways! Whatever way is easier for you and your Frontosa!

Rick gotta tell you I am a big discus fan been my favorite fish for years but watching your frontosa videos has made me want to get a tank of them do you sell and ship your frontosas?
@RickyKenerlyCichlids7 жыл бұрын
I sell them to a local fish store and they don't ship. I am happy my videos have inspired you to want to own frontosas! They are great to have in an aquarium!

Hi Ricky! So great to see you sharing your secrets =D Some romantic music too?? lol Have a great first day of SPRING!! =D

Helping others breed frontosas can help others enjoy the hobby! Not only if they have them but it allows more of them to be on the market. Some of the more rare ones are very expensive and hard to get. If more people breed those then it will allow others to have them!! ( Hopefully Me as Well). Barry White works wonders on the Frontosas and other jazz music! I am so glad Winter is over. I don't like extreme heat but my body does better in warmer weather than it does in colder weather! May you have an awesome spring day as well!

Ricky I am so with you on that thought. I feel the same way about Victorians.. they are hard to get as well. I'm a jazz lover myself. No one in particular.. just the beat and the sway gets me.. =D

For smaller frontosas, i recommend you to give only pellet food, frontosas do not have a strong digestive organ, young ones frequently come to stomach problems. sinking pellet fishfood is the best
@RickyKenerlyCichlids7 жыл бұрын
I never had issues feeding smaller frontosas shrimp and I have raised over 1000 frontosas! Thanks for commenting and watching!
@wilkinsonlee92787 жыл бұрын
wow, i have to refer to that, but last year, i lost 10 ikola fries because of no good frozen blood worms, when they have a stomache issue, they take a white poop, stop reacting on food. now i only feed Hikari sinking pellet to my new 19 frontosas, but i need to consider krills or shrimps, because live food can make fish bigger. do you have anything you do before feeding fronzen food?
@RickyKenerlyCichlids7 жыл бұрын
The blood worms could of been the issue. I used to breed bettas years ago and I lost a huge amount because of feeding them blood worms. Supposedly there are hooks on the worms that can damage the stomach. Some people think they are great but after that experience I don't use them. I put the frozen food in room temperature water in a bowl and let it thaw out slowly. That is the only food I feed them on those days. And I feed them just once. If they don't eat all of it and there is just a little bit left they will usually eat it later in the day. If there is a lot you might want to take most of it out that is remaining. I also am not saying that you have to feed frozen food to get them to spawn but it has worked as a good trigger for me! As far as the fry the last few batches I fed algae wafers and pellet food. They grow slow anyways and frozen food can add up in money! Depending on how big your smaller fronosas are frozen mysis shrimp is good as well. Just remember your own observations are better than any advice! Thanks for asking a follow up question!

thanks, i will try to find a good frozen food available here,
