What a sweet subject! You go Viv! With gentle practice & confidence cats arent difficult to pill but they will remember if you make it traumatic. I Always love on my cat and reward with treat after so you acknowledge kitty cooperating. To coax kitty to swallow after placing pill in her mouth and gently holding her mouth closed i blow a puff of breath close to her nose and the kitty swallows every time. I thank an old country vet for sharing his knowledge. Thank you.

So basically you have to wrap your cat in a towel firmly enough to keep him from getting out but not too tight. There's no other way to make him take his medicine without him hurting you.

my cat is sweet but she runs away and i can't catch her. the failure is pretty much just me. the reason i gotta give her meds is she swallowed string :( which now she is good, and the string is out, but she needs anti gut irritation meds. she is so good that even when she got an enema the doctor said she just went "meow??" 😭

I just love these demonstrations with empty pills or without pills. i picked up a cat at the vet while it was still under anesthesia or whatever she was on. and the demonstration was so easy and smooth. 10minutes after getting home it wore off and they didn't give me any hard drugs but they did give me all day for 2 weeks care with 10 types of procedures or i could have left the cat with them for...well for one night of stay plus the work and drugs obviously were for the vet to deal with was only 2200 dollars and i don't think they did much except calculate how much money they could milk out of me. if I came in to the hospital, they'd come out and have another thing to sell me for 100s of dollars. it would've been 10,000 for 10 days or more.

Can you give little water back (like a ml or 2 from a syringe) to prevent the pill from lodging in a dry esophagus? I heard because of their throats anatomy (not vertical like ours) this can be a problem with some medications.

I'm very surprised that she didn't mention following the pill with water. I would never expect my cat to swallow a pill dry due to the problems that can cause.

I do that but my cat its still a nightmare!! the pills for deworming i give her kind of dissolve so after she swallows it she makes foam in her mouth to try to get rid of it!! shes so silly

If I even _think_ about giving a pill my cat jumps out the window and isn't seen for three days. Ah vets, if you could only see what happens in the wild to your carefully prescribed and measured medicines... Seriously, if it doesn't come in a paste it's effectively impossible to medicate my cat. If someone invented a foolproof method to give cats pills they'd be a billionaire.

If you have to give more than one pill make sure your fingers are dry each time or the pill will be stuck to your finger and come back out... Obvious but only after the 10th time for me lol
