Hi Roseanne. Loving the great videos. Can you explain the difference between using the dark wax and dark glaze? Thank you
@CountryChicPaint8 жыл бұрын
+Donna Semel Hi Donna, Each product will give a similar, but unique effect. The application process is also different, and in some cases, it’s definitely better to choose one over the other. For high traffic projects, we always recommend sealing your piece with our Tough Coat because it’s extremely durable and can be cleaned easily. Since wax is an oily product and Tough Coat is water-based, you cannot apply Tough Coat on top of a wax. This is why for projects like tabletops and kitchen cabinets, we recommend using our glaze instead. That way you can still give it that antique look, but since our glazes are water-based you can afterwards seal it with Tough Coat for long lasting protection. Our glazes also come in three pre-tinted colors which allow you to choose the level of warmth and depth you like on your finish. If you don't need the added protection of Tough Coat and you prefer the application and feel of a wax, then go with antiquing wax!
@fizakaal8 жыл бұрын
+Country Chic Paint I actually love the idea of the glaze, especially since waxing is tough on my (weak) hands. Glad for this option! thank you again for your reply!

These glazes look wonderful. If I used the tigers eye glaze over something painted turquoise, would it change the color or just give it a warm brown aged kind of patina? And what types of cloth can be used that will be lint free?
@CountryChicPaint5 жыл бұрын
Hi Niara, Yes, the glaze will change the overall color of your piece, but it will settle mostly in the crevices and details. You can wipe away as much or as little of the glaze as you like! As for cloths, we like the canvas-style kind you can pick up at home improvement stores, but you can even just cut up an old t-shirt.
@niaraterelaisley80825 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Country Chic Paint! I may give it a try. If I can wipe off as much as I feel I need to, it could be just what this piece needs. :)

thank you for this informative video! great job. I understand that this technique works well with the types of furniture that have frames etc. where the glaze stays after wiping, but what if I need to glase a simple painted stool that doesn't have those? Its very basic stool, just legs and the top, and I wonder what stays and where when I cover it with the glaze and wipe afterwards. I painted it in nice yellow, but wanted to add some used antique look with dark edges and some dark patina around the joints. But the issue is that using your technique the glase at the edges, where I do want it to stay, will most probaly get wiped off. What do you think I shall do to make it look like a want? And would the whole thing work if I use watered down dark acrylic paint over the main layer of paint, also acrylic? thank you!
@CountryChicPaint4 ай бұрын
Great questions! Glaze can be used on flat surfaces to give the overall color a bit of texture and depth. However, to achieve the darkened edges and corners like you described, I'd probably opt for a dark wax instead. It would be a bit easier to control as you could simply not buff it as much in the areas that you want to appear darker. If you'd like to check out our Antiquing Wax you can find it here: shop.countrychicpaint.com/antiquing-wax/

Can you use glaze if your furniture pieces have been waxed

Since our glaze is water-based, it won't adhere properly over an oily product like wax. However, you can glaze furniture then apply wax on top.

Is that country paint chalk paint or different kind of paint?
@CountryChicPaint6 жыл бұрын
Country Chic Paint is a clay-based, All-in-One Decor Paint! It's similar to a chalk-based paint in that it distresses beautifully and has a nice chalky matte finish, but it has even better coverage and adhesive qualities.
