Loving your bottles💞(laughing at how KZbin are scrolling messages saying it's illegal to sell alcohol from your home without a licence)!! When all you are doing is decorating wine bottles that still contain wine. Love that you get supplies from car boots and pound shops, also use permanent markers to colour your gems-brilliant idea. Also, fab way to tie bows xxx

My first set of glasses came out great. Im doing tumbler glasses and i put 1 coat of glitter let it dry for 2 hours gone to put the 2nd coat of Mod Podge and the glitter is coming off a bit did i not give it enough time to dry do you think?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel5 жыл бұрын
its possible, sometimes this happens with the 1st coat. do the 2nd coat leave it for at least 4 hours to dry. you need to do the coats fast but gentle the more you brush on the next coat of glue it rubs off the 1st coat as its usually always the thinnest one.

Hi Alison, This might be a stupid question, after you done the top coat does your glitter this come out the colour you put on it, just learner
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel6 жыл бұрын
No, it won't as long as you have covered the whole area you glitter. I now use a very watery mix of PVA glue (or mod podge) I mix it with water so it looks like skimmed milk. You might think it won't work but it honestly does. The best thing is it keeps it's sparkle and won't fall off. It is messy as it is so watery but as long as you put old newspaper down to catch the drips.

I get my glitter from Victoria street on ebay, but I will buy it from wherever is cheapest, I usually use fine glitter as its not so rough on your fingers when holding the glass filled with wine ha ha ha and the gems are from £1 shop or if your in USA dollar tree. I use clear gems that way I can colour them with Sharpie pens to whatever I need, The same with the half pearls I buy white and colour them to whatever I need

Allison, please could you tell me which glue to use to make sure the self adhesive diamonties will definitely stay In place. As I may or may not of of told you,I’m going to spend 3 days over Christmas in Brussels as a kind of homage to my mum because when she was able,we always did a 3 day visit there in December, I asked if any of you followers to see if I could get your address, which both Kay & yourself let me have,hopefully realising I’m not a ‘nutter’ but I don’t know weather you’re an assortment,milk,white or dark chocolate type? I’m going to send you a small sample of Brussels but I don’t know which kind of chocolate you prefer.....it’ll be small but just a taste of Brussels! xx

Can the wine be chilled in the glittered bottles or are they more for decoration?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel8 жыл бұрын
I have never tried to chill it. I guess if the bottle is chilled in the refrigerator and not in a bucket of ice I don't see why not. As long as the bottle is left in a warm place to completely dry out again once empty. The glasses I do can withstand a very quick wash under slow running warm water. Then gently pat dry with some paper towels and left to completely dry
@tobywolfblack90738 жыл бұрын
so when you add a 2nd coat of glue over the glitter doesnt it remain that same color or is a 2nd coat of glitter needed??
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel8 жыл бұрын
Yes add another coat of glitter let it dry then if you feel it needs it do a 3rd coat of glitter. Then seal it all with one last coat of glue ( no glitter ) this will stop all the glitter coming off on your hands. So I brush on glue cover it in glitter let it dry, then glue again and glitter let it dry glue again and glitter let it dry. last coat of glue let it dry and your done.

I love the wine bottles! when you add the second and third layer of glitter to the bottle, do you put another layer of glue on top of each layer of glitter? you skipped over that part.
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
yes, You do but put glitter on it right away. I don't believe I skipped it I just added glitter. You only seal the last layer. You don't cover it on 2nd coat and leave it to dry then put another coat of glue then glitter. You do a coat of glue then glitter shake off the excess glitter when the 1st coat is dry then add another coat of glue then glitter it right away. Set it off to the side to dry then the 3rd layer is same glue then glitter set aside to dry. After the 3rd layer let the glitter dry and put 1 thin coat of glue over it all and set it aside to dry this will seal in the glitter so it won't come off in your hands.

I wouldn't know about putting it in the fridge for any longer than to cool it enough to drink. I do mine for gifts usually they drink the wine and keep the bottle. Thank you so much for a brilliant beginners tutorial. I'm just starting out and want to sell these as gifts. It says you can't sell alcohol without a license,do you get one or how do you sell online? Also, can you recommend a supplier of presentation boxes for bottle with a glass? Thank you again. Brilliant. Ginny😀
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Ginny, I say the warning for selling alcohol to keep my tutorial on the right side of the law, a lot of people still sell them as gifts without a license I don't know about alcohol licensing on gifts like this. I do know 100% if you give the item as a gift then your not breaking any law you will have to google selling alcohol as gifts to find out where you stand on this. I don't sell mine my friends usually give me the wine I glitter the bottle and give it back to them. They usually buy me glitter or other craft items as a thank you. As for the boxes I would suggest ebay or amazon I have seen etsy shops and ebay with these wine bottles for sale and other alcohol bottles under personalized gifts. I hope this helps you.

Your welcome, Remember the only limit is your imagination. Try square bottles too and jazz up flower vases in the same way. If you look for my french braid glass you can do this to a bottle I think it will look fab.
@adrienneponder69717 жыл бұрын
what do you put on the bottles so glitter wont be on your hands when your done
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
You paint on a very thin layer of the watered down glue. It drys to a protective coating and the glitter wont come off on your hands when it its finished.

When you are putting the second and third coats of glitter on do you have to reapply the mod podge as well? so the glitter sticks each time? then apply the mod podge the last time to seal in the glitter? I'm about to try to do this on an empty wine bottle but I want your instruction first. thanks :-)

Alison Russell's Craft Channel ok I was told you could use E3600 or something like that cant remember the exact name lol
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel6 жыл бұрын
yes, you can use that too for the diamonds but not the glitter. I think it is E600 I'm sure there is a E 300 something too ha ha ha

Thank you so much. You can do this glittering to almost anything. Try it on wine glasses too. Around mirrors it will work on wooden frames, lamp shade bases etc.
