I've used what's called Water Glass to bond rocks to wood with good results. It's pretty inexpensive and all you need to do to release it is soak it in warm water for about a half hour. It also comes off the stone and the board completely so the board can be reused after it dries out.

Sounds like I should give it a try. Thanks.🎉

FYI, you can get CA (Cryno-acorate super glues) off with acetone. Heat will also weaken a lot of glues, so with your rock slab/wood block, you might have been able to bake it to 400F and been able to get it loose.

Yep. I did use acetone. Doubt my better half would let me use the stove but maybe I could do a work around.

@@DirtCleanerVideos I saw the acetone in the latter half of the video. I also saw you saw down the wood. After sawing, I think you could also leave the wood glued to the slab and go straight to a 50 grit "polish" to remove the remaining wood.

I glue to the end grain of the boards with the regular gorilla glue, use bar clamps to clamp it, the weight of the rock isn't enough. I hang it out far enough that I can cut the wood last cut, leaving a thin bit of wood that comes right off after soaking in water. When using the gorrilla glue I put the glue on the wood, and spray a little water on the rock, the glue is water activated.

Hi dirtcleaner! Been enjoying your videos for a while. Had to stop the video while I thought of it. Thought about a solution for your marker on the stone and rubbing it on the wood impression to show the high spots. In previous visits to the dentist to get some fillings the dentist when finishing up the sculpting of the filling he would hold something like carbon paper between top and bottom teeth and get me to bit down some times or move side to side sometimes to make some adjustments by bringing down the high spots of the fillings. I don’t know what carbon paper costs these days at stationery stores but one side is waxy and clean and the other is quite messy. It sounds like it should work and keep your stone clean and wood be marked. Now back to the video to see the sawing conclusion. Thanks for your channel.👍🏻

"OK, bite down." I have heard that before. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks.
