This form of clamping has been around forever. I can't say how long but there is a Swedish company that makes the clamping system PLANO. It has been around since the 80's. And it clamps in a vertical position to save space, But it is pretty expensive ($419 for 3 clamps and a rail) so these guys are on to something.

I'm sure those are nice, yet a bit expensive. I have used pony clamps my through my woodworking experience. Patience is the key to most things in life. Same goes with gluing up wood. Just my opinion 😎

please explain how the clamp is pressing down. It looks to me like only one end of the clamp has downward pressure while the other is free to move up and down on the stop. What did I miss?

Your are right. It's very flawed. No clamping pressure downward. The back doesn't even have a way to keep it from common apart. Got my set and not impressed at all

Hi. Nice video and well documented. thanks for sharing. But will all honesty, I like your Moravian style bench you're using in this video. Is it there any possibility to get free plans for building it? I've been trying to find some without success, even though I have already come up with a design which seems pretty close; but better to stick to the original if all possible though. Thanks for any info you could provide.

Nice clip, but they are not what I consider to be true panel clamps. They should exert pressure in all directions as you tighten them.

That clamp system is at least 200 years old, that company didn’t invent anything, they just copied the concept and made their own.
