Ive been 6.28/121 1/8 mile but was spinning some with a stock 88 5.0, only non stock items internally was 1.7 RRs, good valve springs, billet timing set, 1011-1 fel pros and ARP head studs. Has a freightliner turbo, quick fuel blow thru 750, 15psi that was “intercooled” with a 150 shot drove to and from the track for many years and only ran 87 octane. They are tough little engines and rpm/tune splits them more than hp does, i could have went 5s easily with race fuel, more timing and anything other than stock struts and shocks but the goal was 5s on 87

If you chose to try the Parker I have good intel on them, do the short runners differently than the long runners. Think of it as two four cylinders connected to the same crank. The different length runners will actually flatten the torque curve because they peak at different rpm.

Thanks for sharing your engine combo! To run like you do I picture a strpped down racecar only. Seems your suspension would have to be drag only. Tires, drag slicks and skinnnies. Is this about right? I have a '92 LX 5.0 with a GT40 intake and heads combo. My car weighs the sameas stock or a bit more. What tips do you think I might be able to use my friend? Joe D.

These are cars we drive to work they aren't stripped down race cars lol I just have lakewood traction bars on mine and mine is full weight and we do run slicks and skinnies to race the car but we had a car with drag radials on the rear and stock ponys on the front and it picked up nothing putting drag lites on it , I need to know if you have a 5 speed or automatic? Is it a daily driver ? And are you planning on running a power adder ? Be happy to help you if I can thanks for watching joe 😊

Hey, Terry! Love your 5.0 help. I have an '89 Bronco to fix up. 5.0, 185 hp@ 4400. Aol, and 4.10 dif. As my project, I would like to help the bottom end, and mid range as this thing weighs 4600 empty. I know a stroker kit would do wonders, but do you think I can improve the bottom end say, 20% with head work, and a slightly better cam? (RV spec,). Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks for all you do!
@terrygrover6440 Жыл бұрын
Hello Joel that would work just fine, I would mill and port the heads, a good 3 angle valve job and back cut the valves you should pick up about 20 lbs of torque and 30 to 50 hp depending on who does the heads keep in mind your looking for all mid lift numbers on the heads beings your going to be an all mid range combo , that's what you want in that heavy vehicle if you need more help I'd be happy to help with your cam choice

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you for yer time. Also to yer son Adam for sending me to yer KZbin and of course the Misses, for putting yer content up online. 🙏🙏🙏

@@AdashZep612 Adam the bowl is crucial on the e7s because it takes so much work to taper them in and cut back to make them as round as possible due to the flat spots in them and bad casting most of your gain is getting a smooth transition off the seat, its hard to go in detail in a message on this if you can share your number privately to adam i could call you and go over it with you

I have a question... I have an 86 gt mustang and I know from what I have heard that these are a flat top position motor meaning no valve reliefs but I have also heard that later date production 86 5.0s they added the valve reliefs I want to run a cam at least a b303 and some gt40 heads I do realize that I need to first convert to MAF that is easy enough to do and I need to get an A9L ECM I can do that to but any light being shed on this would help thanks!!
@terrygrover64403 жыл бұрын
If you have no valve reliefs in the piston I dont think you can go over 480 lift but it may be less only because I've never tried to put a cam in with that piston but putting the gt40 heads on you will lose some compression you will be about 8.9 to 1thats taking a stab at it a gt40p head will raise the compression to about 9 and a half to 1depending on the thickness of the head gasket if your putting a cam in i refer to the b cam as better then nothing being there is not much performance gain i hope this was helpful thank you for watching

What would you think of a combo utilizing stock 302 shortblock, e303 cam, gt40 3 bar heads milled to 55cc approx 10:1 cr, and a tunnel ram? Its a combo im thinking of using in my 49 shoebox gasser.
@terrygrover64402 жыл бұрын
That's a fine combo if you already have that cam and those parts however depending how fast your trying to go the 303 cam doesn't work very well with a tunnel ram we have similar combinations with a duel plane intake that run 11s a tunnel ram takes a lot of tuning and with low compression gives up torque below 3000 rpm a stick car is more forgiving and a light weight vehicle helps to , the tunnel ram is cool on a gasser but I'd up the cam shaft hope this is helpful

@@terrygrover6440 thanks for the recommendation. Im building the car for more nostalgia than racing. Ive got the car, 88 bronco long block and gt40 heads. Planning on running an 8.8 with 4.10 gears. Obviously a nice modern set a performance heads are the ticket for all out performance but if you take any factory head and do the basic improvements it will increase power. Little bowl and pocket and guide boss work is easy and make a big difference. Then smooth and radius the runners and your done. For the price of a sand roll kit a carbide and your time you can do noticable flow gains. Most working joes can't just drop $1000-2000 for a set of heads plus still need rockers and pushrods. The forum jerkoffs say porting the factory HO intake is "a waste of time" big dogs porting gets 230cfm out of a HO intake... He charges $375 to $525 depending on stage 2 or 3, (3 gets you runner length mods) think stock GT40 intake is 170cfm.... So how is that a waste of time? Anyone can chuck expensive parts at an engine and build HP it takes an engine builder to build HP with OEM parts.
