My understanding of armor is it has no negative effect on performance. Some people say it adds weight and thereby decreases performance, but I believe I've seen or read (probably from you, Broughy) that this is not true. However, I believe it may have a positive effect on performance. What I understand armor to do is that it makes a car more durable; or in other words, take less damage. Damage can hurt the performance of a car, especially when the axles start getting bent. In much of GTA racing, there can be a lot of contact throughout a race, whether with other cars or with lamp posts or barriers or whatever may be on the sides of the raceway. If armor helps to minimize damage, it helps to keep a higher level of performance for a longer period of time. In that sense, it seems that armor is beneficial. What are your thoughts on this?
@broughy13228 жыл бұрын
Agree
@TakeNoShift5 жыл бұрын
Old comment, but Armor definitely effects performance negatively. I've drage raced people with the exact same car as me, full upgrades. I had no armor and a few of them did. I won 9 times out of 10 (Driver Skill + No Armor). That particular car is hard to launch and the Mid Drive is key to winning as well, and armor definitely had an effect on who won.

@@manyfailsonewin4352 9 months later, yeah I believe it. To be fair, it was on old gen with the Rapid GT speed glitch. Armor very well could have affected because you have to stance the rear wheels, and higher armor makes that harder. He is clearly saying the word fact in a northern way. It sounds nothing like the f word unless you are trying to hear a southern accent ( even then it's tenuous) . Anyone that understands accents would not expect to hear a southern twang in the midst of a northern sentence so I assume most of you guys are not from the UK.

my point is people say it every time. Does he say the f word etc. Being from the North East myself I cannot hear what people are banging on about unless you imagine a cockney saying 'fuck' then his a could be seen as a U. For instance to a northerner the song 'blowing bubbles' , to us comes out as ' I am forever blawing babbles'. People in the UK wouldn't make a fundamental error. Only those from outside the UK. I wasn't angry about tho, lol. I was trying to inform people about his accent and such.

To clarify, ANYTHING that I don't mention in the first part of this video relating to performance upgrades falls into the final "Fine Tuning" category. That is including, but not limited to, suspension, carbon parts, different spoilers, armour & weight, different body mods, etc. I would also suggest you all wait until that section of the video before commenting, as I talk explicitly about spoilers there in relation to what Shaggy has said in his recent videos.

I think the different spoilers and other body mods are effecting center of mass more than anything. Which in turn effects things like oversteer vs understeer, anti-roll bar and MAYBE drag in some instances(I saw someone in the commenets say the blower hood option made the Rhapsody slower, Ill test that). . The spoiler that sits higher on the Osiris makes the car feel like it oversteers more and is more prone to rolling. I wont go say which I think is better but thats what I noticed. I dont think its a placebo effect but I also dont care to argue about it anymore. Im going to do what I think makes me go faster in game and thats all there is to it.

Going back and watching this video again in May 2018 one thing really stands out. At the time of this video the racing community was saying they don't like curb (yes, I'm American) boosting and tried to make tracks that eliminate as much as possible. Now we have new cars coming out that don't benefit from curb boosting and the racing community hates them. I understand the main reason is because all the older cars still get the boost so the new ones are slower on rough tracks but instead of saying they're worthless why not organize races using only the new cars? Personally I like the added realism and being able to use proper racing lines with the new cars when practicing on a track alone or racing with friends also in the new cars.

@kevinturvey82499 жыл бұрын
Raymo reaper ***** Actually the suspension does make a difference at least for a non-pro racer like me. I’ve got mid-range suspension in all my short wheelbase cars and competition(or what’s the second lowest) on the long wheelbase ones(all have muscle or offroad tires btw, depending on looks). The effect of the softer suspension is that it “forgives” errors while driving full speed on small & sharp jumps + recovering from them and kerbs too. Makes the kerbs and the lamp post shit on the road feel softer and really reduces that “small launch to the air from a wrong aimed kerb/crap and ending sideways on the road”-effect. I’ve tested my vehicles on down the drain, don’t remember the time differences-there were small differences- but mainly the feel of the suspension on that track.It can be placebo, but them vehicles feel nicer & easier to drive than lowest possible option. And I'm not a pro.

I also pull the handbrake mid drive in real life to get a speed boost. I also hit those nasty curb boosts. People yell at me all the time, they are just jealous if my racing lines.

About that motorbike wheelie. If you lean forward when accelerating and wheelie a bit after that I've experienced that you will get a slightly better time than when you start of wheelying

Yeah about spoilers, GUN1T123 seems to take the difference very seriously, he's able to describe its feelings for 2 differents spoilers with the Turismo, Zentorno and Osiris But I think it's more like a placebo effect, having a GT spoiler on my Osiris actually give me more confidence in coroners and I think it's just visual
@broughy13229 жыл бұрын
Jonathan K. Yep like I said, different opinions about it and it's impossible to say one way or another, so just go with what you feel is best :)
@RCShowdown9 жыл бұрын
The biggest (and ugliest) spoiler gives the Zentorno a much better handling! After I watched gun1t's video I tried out all spoilers. First I thought it was a placebo effect, too, because you cannot feel any difference between the first two spoilers. But the biggest one REALLY makes a differnece!
@broughy13229 жыл бұрын
RC Showdown And others think the opposite, that the smaller spoilers are better. As I said, it's all about fine tuning to your own personal preferences

I go by the in game stat sheet whenever you go to remove a spoiler you see the loss of traction on the stat bar, and if you switch between any of the spoilers you see no change. Though I do feel more confident with the zentorno racing spoiler as well. I wish rockstar would quit being so vague about such petty stuff

Kerb boosting is actually a thing? Is this for fucking real? I don't even know if I want to race anymore, that's the worst thing I've ever heard. I mean I knew this game was no racing sim, but that really breaks my balls.

Praise the Sun My saltiness aside though, this video was fantastic and very informative. Learned a lot with the mid drive speed boost. But those fucking kerbs....
@broughy13229 жыл бұрын
Praise the Sun Glad to help! Your frustration is something we've all felt in the GTA racing community at one time or another :)
@popeofdestiny13189 жыл бұрын
Praise the Sun Yeah its kind of crazy but when you get "airborn" the rpm's shoot up quick and you get a little extra acceleration. And yes, salty can be an understatement when you get passed by these people.
@imadethischanneljusttocomm19399 жыл бұрын
U can do the mid drive speed boost multiple times. If u are really good at it u can make the banshee be faster than the Osiris in a drag race.

Can you do a video about hand braking?
@poeticdevides9 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea but I feel like I already know what he'd say. The simple fact is that any time your wheels lose traction is time that you're not efficiently accelerating or slowing your vehicle.
@dirkgroovy72079 жыл бұрын
I mean like more specific, when it is better to use hand braking as suppose to just normal braking
@poeticdevides9 жыл бұрын
Well it's just that, there is absolutely no possible situation in reality, either on private tracks or public streets, in which a vehicle travels through a corner sooner with a handbrake than by slowing to an appropriate speed and taking it with all your brakes. That said we're talking about GTA, things don't necessarily have to make sense.
@broughy13229 жыл бұрын
Dirk Groovy Don't need a video to answer that question: Never.
@ChaotikSpraya869 жыл бұрын
Dirk Groovy The only time to use a handbrake is to either park the car, or to drift. The only time a drift is necessary is when on a u turn where it is to small to do a 180 turn in one full move or when driving off road where carrying the same amount of speed round a bend would cause you too understeer off the road and into a tree. Now i now people will say that the handbrake should never be used and on tarmac, id agree 100% but a rally driver will contradict them about the off road use.

I've been super interested in your content lately. It's so nice. Hey about online racing.. I always find myself racing these maniacs that try and ram you off track. I sometimes slightly brake in order to let them pass and not hit me. Would you like to or have you made a video about how to get around these road maniacs? :)

This is just what we expect from a game like GTA 5. It’s not a actual racing game. That’s why the physics are bugged and we get people who don’t take racing seriously or just don’t know much about real racing call us cheaters or modders cause we use these tips and tricks. Sorry but it’s not cheating if everyone else does it. Great video and great explanation. Sadly those who just ain’t that serious about racing will still refuse to believe it
