My hair is basically a natural light blonde on top and a touch darker at the back with white gray kinky hair at my temples. Really like a 7R. I had bought a 6R to do first, to ease my way into a darker color, so I don't have dark color shock. When I was 35, I had lost a lot of hair on top of my head and wanted to do a golden blonde. I had luck with Clairol's golden blonde, but accidentally bought Laurel Feria in golden blonde and it turned out Bozo orange. I'm 60 and haven't touched it since. So did I do the new color choice correctly by going with a 6R first, before using a 7R? @hair-budda, do you have any suggestions?

Hi hair Buddha I just watched your video several times. I didn't see it before I went from blonde to what my desired color of strawberry blonde was supposed to be. I followed another youtubers formula and I have a nice copper root, not too orange or brassy and no yellow down to my ears then the color didn't take on my ends. So...do I need to remove what I've done with color oops and start all over? Or can I just follow your method? I'm looking to go strawberry blonde. Not a dark red or ginger. Or maybe a light ginger would be fine. You mentioned 10 volume to deposit but would I use a 20 volume on the final color? The shades I have are 7G, 8G, 8RG(too dark I think) and 8RC all in permanent colors. Please help 🙏

This was interesting. Most videos on back filling the hair (what you call pre-pigmenting) just tell you to use a copper color and they don't ever say anything about 1 shade lighter, or if you want to go gold, or mahogany. This was more indepth. Thank you.

Hi!! I just wanted to thank you for this video, it really helped me to achieve the color I wanted! I went from bleached platinum bond to bright copper and turned out beautiful! I had already bought a 7.43 from wella color touch line (as suggested by the store employee) so I used that one with a 6vol. developer cream for the pre pigmentation, and a 7.44 from FarmaVita 3Deluxe Line for the final coloration ( I know we are supposed to use a tone lighter but I figured it was okay since I wasn't set on a specific tone as the outcome).

Your videos have been such a huge help to me! I was very very nervous about bleaching my hair. But I sectioned into 6 parts and bleached small sections at a time. My hair actually lighted to nearly the color I wanted to dye it. It's gone from a 2 to a 7. I am aiming for a blond with some copper in it. Do I need to add more pigment or can I deposit that color onto a 7? Thank you for making your videos! I am learning so much from them!

Hi from Australia. As I allways go to hairdresser as I to have had a couple of hair fails in my time. I'm older. Lol. This video was very informative. Especially if in lockdown and want your hair done. Howevet in my opinion we have hairdressers for a reason. You wouldn't go to a Dr in someone's yard if you were sick. Lol . So it's just my opinion to go to a professional. Plus you get the glorious head scalp massage. Heaven. If during a week you aren't happy with your hair you can go back and they will make it right for free. That's here in Australia. Great video. Great advice. 👌👌👌

This is very difficult to do. You have to take section by section, just coloring the band of orange with bleach and 20vol. Each section should be protected with a aluminium foil (not foiled).

Dearest Hair Buddha, What about fashion colors?? My natural color now is 100% gray/salt and pepper, so occasionally, I have to bleach my hair. (I usually try to just work off of the color I have so I don't bleach it as often.) I've heard that gray hair is actually clear, so do I need to be repigmenting before a fashion color? I really wish [you or] someone would talk more about gray hair procedures sometimes, particularly with Semi-permanent colors, since I've learned not to use grandma's box dye, haha. Also, great family vacation videos! (November 2024) It was really nice seeing your family adventures together! Your family is so sweet!! Thank you for educating and entertaining us too! You rock!! Going from lightest end of the color spectrum to the darkest and just putting straight black color on will not work( as he explained the blonde was an empty tube with no pigment ), you need to follow pre -pigmentation steps before applying desired color. If your not a professional colorist , best to visit one for such a dramatic change. 🤞 Best of luck.

I have watched this video like 4 times at this stage. I really hope I know what I’m doing. My hair has been bleached and then copper with direct dye. Managed to remove the colour with colour remover and a bleach wash. Now my hair is I’d say a level 9-8 blonde. It’s not too yellow. I feel like I can confidently go outside and not look ridiculous. Maybe it’s a Golden/Natural Blonde. I want to go back to my natural hair colour which I would say is like a level 7 dark VERY ash blonde (most “ash” colours still look too warm on my hair). After that I just want to grow out my hair. I have done Aphogee Protein treatment to improve the health of my hair so hopefully it will be less porous and also recently chopped off a lot of damage, my hair is a bob just below my chin. I bought a Redken Shades EQ level 09N and 07N as they didn’t have 08N. I will use that with 7 volume to fill/re-pigment my hair. This is supposed to be a Natural level 8 blonde. Then I plan to mix Wella Color Touch 8/81 Light Pearl Ash Blonde and 7/97 Medium Cendre Brunette blonde with 13 Volume. A combo of them two looks closest to my natural hair colour. Both very ashy. I really hope it works out well. I never record anything or put it on youtube, but maybe I’ll try to document how it went. If anyone has any suggestions that could help, please feel free to comment.

I use permanent blond hair colour (boxdye), and only colour my grouth but the problem is that my new growth now keeps getting lighter and lighter and my hair basically goes from lighter strawberry blond to copper at the bottom.oh and btw. I have been dowing this for about ten years, if not longer perhaps even 15. anyways, despite this I have rather healthy hair, a bit dry since I am curly but otherwise very healthy. thank you so much, and please keep making new content. I finally found this video.. And if I am understanding you, use 10 volume like you would use with a toner. I am a level 10 bleached platinum and I want to go back to closer to my natural hair (a level 8 reddish/ gold blonde) I should use a 9 with gold/red ( warm tones) with 10 volume to pre-pigmintate my hair. That actually makes sense. I do like the platinum but it is very time consuming to maintain and fortunately I can get away with either cool tone or warm toned hair. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I prefer to go to the salon for my root touch ups, but I think I can go ahead and darken it on my own. The only question I would have is do you use demi-permanent or actual permanent color to re-pigment?

I'm enjoying your videos very much! So here's my issue...My hair bleaches naturally with the sun. I have not lightened it since I was a teen (35 years ago!) and used...shudder...Sun-In...My regrowth is a dirty blonde, kind of ashy. I have always reached for a dark ash blonde box dye and it inevitably turns brassy. A couple of years ago I discovered purple shampoo, and now more of a blue one. I use it every couple of weeks, when I really can't handle the brass anymore and it turns out amazing. But...I want my whole head to be the colour of my roots! My daughter used proper dye from Sally Beauty a couple of years ago and it was gone so quickly. Every time I dye my hair the blonde is back within 3 weeks. My question, after all that pre-amble, is do I just re-pigment my blonde? It's the top layer of my hair and all the ends of the layers that get touched by the sun, if that makes sense...like I lift the blonde and it's dark underneath. I got a perm and a cut a few weeks ago (perm every 4 months) The cut was to get rid of as much summer blonde as possible. You have another video where the girl dyes her blonde with box dye brown and you said she should do it a second time within a week...should I do that? BTW, I have such fine and low-density hair that I don't even need the whole bottle to fully saturate my hair! I look forward to hearing your advice!
@hair-buddha3 жыл бұрын
Blond hair needs to be re-pigmentated, otherwise it fades very quickly. Plus when you perm your hair, then your hair is poreus, it means that the colour can fade out quickly. You need to put a conditioner on the lengths (NOT THE ROOTS) to close the layers around the hair. It is like closing the door of your house to keep the heat inside.
