Ok I’m confused. Is non resident whitetail archery tag OTC or draw only? I’m finding google says otc!
@prnprn4024 Жыл бұрын
Just an FYI. SD uses a bonus point system, not a preference point system. I know they call it a preference point system but it is not. It is true random draw.

Hey! So the system has changed for rifle for non resident? By the sounds of it, it will take a few years before getting a tag if you are first time 2025? Is there left over tag opportunities to purchase ? TIA

Did South Dakota get rid of the non resident otc tags and go to a strictly draw system
@GOHUNT Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video Jarrell! To answer your question, no they did not. The public land tags for nonresident archery deer and antelope are now on a draw system and there is a quota. There are nonresident archery deer and antelope tags for “private land only” that are OTC/unlimited. Not to mention the rifle tags have many draw and OTC opportunities for nonresidents. But there is still some time for those. We will be putting out an app strategy article going over those opportunities.

I am happy that the Dakotas have made it into the INSIDER platform. I spoke to Brady about these a while back as I am sure many others were hoping that these states would be added eventually. As someone who hopes to hunt pronghorn in every state that I can get a non resident tag no matter the weapon type, South Dakota is on my list even if I have to chase them with a bow. Thanks for sharing, I will look forward to the strategy article.

If you like working your tail off for small deer and dealing with aggressive land owners who think they own public hunt here!

These Plains and western states crack me up. Absolutely hate the Federal tax code, but create rules for getting a hunting tag even more complicated.

It is probably important to note the changes in place this year for South Dakota too. There is now a cap on Non-Resident archery and antelope tags on public lands only, which is new to South Dakota for 2023. The capped tags are also now a statewide tag only, which differs from previous years where an applicant could select East River, West River, or Statewide. The application deadlines mentioned in this video for deer and antelope are also specific only to public lands. South Dakota still offers unlimited private land archery tags for deer and antelope, which do not have an application deadline, but as mentioned, are specific to private lands only. Rifle deer and antelope tags are a unit specific application process that will open this summer and have deadlines in mid-June, and mid-August, respectively.

Isn’t there a non resident rifle deer tag?
@GOHUNT Жыл бұрын
There are plenty of nonresident rifle deer tag opportunities which are handled through the draw. Those deadlines aren’t until this summer though. We will be putting out an application strategy for those opportunities. Thanks for watching the video! We hoped this information helped.

So are there rifle deer tags available to nonresidents?

Very difficult state to hunt unless you have quality private access and/or are willing to pay hefty access fees for that private. Most landowners hate seeing the out-of-staters and aren't super friendly towards them either. Now the state gfp is making it even more difficult for nonresident hunters to earn a tag as well. I hunted this state while in college as a resident and learned that the Black Hills are overrun with hunters and any other public land in the state can be an army of hunters even during the week. Really not many quality animals that hang around on public land, especially after the resident season. With only half the state even having a population of mule deer and (barely any) antelope, and nonresidents not even being able to hunt deer until October after residents have taken their pick, probably be better off focusing on other states like Nebraska or North Dakota.

Thanks for the comment. Great stuff Gage! All of the new changes you mentioned are covered in the upcoming application strategy for Nonresident Deer/Antelope that can be found on our website. Thanks again for watching!

Wow 149.99 for insider for a year, for something I'm only going to use for a month of the year and probably less, that ridiculous, maybe if it had a monthly charge and is around 10 maybe 15, but my god this app scream greedy.

Hey Michael. Thank you for reaching out and for the feedback! We have always operated on an annual auto-renewal basis of $149.99 a year, which if you break it down monthly is about $12.50 a month. We have had our same base price since we started GOHUNT in 2014 and have continued to add a ton of value to that price point without increasing the cost. You get access to all 50 states of mapping information (both web maps and mobile maps), our Draw Odds, Insider research content like our Application Strategy articles, Filtering hunt finder tool, and our giveaways every month not to mention the free shipping and returns benefits in our Gear Shop as well as the ability to earn simple reward points in our shop. Plus we are the only ones who have both maps and research on a mobile app allowing you to do everything from the palm of your hand. Our membership is built to offer you all you need for your hunt, start to finish and we are constantly adding to this membership without increasing price. We have built our Insider membership to give value to our hunters year around. If you haven't already tried our 7 day membership we'd love for you to give us a shot and provide us with any feedback you have. We're always looking to improve and hear from our users! Best of luck this season.

I'd respectfully ask that you keep ruining the hunting to other states and leave SD alone, enough groups and channels have started to exploit the assets and opportunities here enough, thank you!

Wait a second … that’s not just a South Dakota issue it’s literally everywhere. Especially in Canada. USA hunters are priority #1 for any outfitter in Canada especially in Ontario. Residents can’t get tags for moose … but if you’re an outfitter and an American you have no problem. Hunting is becoming less popular not more popular. And you don’t need to watch KZbin to know South Dakota is one of the more favourable states to hunt… especially for pheasants. And also it sure sounds land owners don’t mind since they charge so much money for access to private.

For real. KZbin and KZbinrs have destroyed hunting opportunities. Absolutely obliterated Wyoming.
