You need to use isopropyl alcohol while taking the front cover off. It makes it a lot easier and does not require a replacement cover

Great video I'll certainly help me when to figure out what's wrong with the power button there was one thing I was worried about once it's disassembled does that mean it's no longer waterproof and how do I get it back to being waterproof again🤔🤔🤔

If you epoxy the new screen in and the new front cover on it should be waterproof, but I wouldn't do this. Instead just purchase a dive housing for the camera.

Thanks! I replaced my screen successfully. A few notes I'd find helpful: 1. It's quite easy to remove front cover without damaging it by using thin plastic triangle tool and some patience to pry around bit by bit and there's no need for hot air. 2. To remove battery compartment you need to unscrew one screw closer to the side wall and then pry off double sided sticky tape glue from the bottom which was quite strong 3. To remove the screen I used 200C hot air at full air flow. It softens glue enough and doesn't burn or melt any surrounding plastic/rubber. Had to brake the screen and chip around to remove glue. At the end you can push whole screen from behind 4. I used T-7000 glue for the screen to have some water proofing, but not sure how the front cover goes, didn't use any extra glue because there was double sided tape but not very sticky (holds well tho) but I wouldn't trust it with water proofing Sidenote: Speakers won't work if you haven't joined two halves because there are latch contacts on the sides of case

So yeah this works great. I had a fine edged drafting ruler that helped me get the front cover off nearly undamaged. The light guide for the recording red lamp disappeared. The screws were T-2 torx. I have an underwater case that I’ll use if I will be dealing with water. I’m slightly tempted to use superglue but I’m not sure how that will effect the screens.

If you just use adhesive to stick it back on then it won't be waterproof anymore, even if you did glue it I wouldn't trust it. You can get a dive housing for the gopro for pretty cheap and just put it in that when you go in the water

Davee Good afternoon, the exact same thing happened to my gopro silver 7, so I bought the replacement screen, however since I do not have the tools I asked a technician to help me, but now although the screen apparently works well, turn on the screen charging the status bar and before finishing it turns off, as if it did not have enough battery and I am trying to charge it but I don't know if it is charging, you know we could have done wrong in the process????

There is a small cable going from the battery bay to the pcb. Maybe you left thid unplugged? Have you tried a charged battery from another gopro?

But if I had left said cable disconnected, it would not turn on or yes, because the camera does turn on with the low battery that it has left, but it turns off immediately. How can I try another battery? Since it is a silver model and I do not know if the battery of other go pro is compatible

@@fipaimmichoacan4678 normally the batteries are cross compatible. Try to turn it on without a battery fitted. You should be able to remove the battery, power it with usb and use it. If that doesnt work then maybe you have affected the usb port when assembling it

The front cover is glued ridiculously well. I don't think you'll get anywhere with that. Look on aliexpress, I recall seeing one on there.

This was my first one, but I have experience repairing older GoPros and phones. After you do it the first time and remove all of the epoxy on the front cover and the screen adhesive its a 25 min job, just the adhesive is a killer.

You need to lift it up before you can move it across. It required me to hold pressure on it upwards to unstick the double sided tape holding it down
