As an agronomist, I worked for a few year for the Canadian Hay Ass'n. in Alberta. Our main product was timothy hay. Regular small bale were compressed to one third normal size and shipped in containers mainly to the dairy market in Japan and more interesting was the racing camel market in Saudi Arabia. Now retired your product has tweeked my interest.

Back in the day when we had dairy My Dad would cut the hay with a 14' swather and after 4 or 5 days we would rake just enough to flip it over , and the next morning depending on how much dew we got we would bale, Basically it would over dry and with the dew it would gain moisture , then when it some of the dew dried off we would bale all small squares and it would get put in a hay loft in dairy barn. I should tell you we are in SE ND and we have dew almost every morning , sometime it's heavy enough to drip off the roof's. I bet that's something that rarely happens in Buckeye.

Thanks for the interesting video. I found the part about grading hay very interesting. Back in my day we just baled it and put it in the barn. The way you look at the hay is interesting. Looking for that premium hay I assume. The long trucks you loaded. Two things. Are those yours and where does that hay go to??? Trying to get my mind around your operation. You stacker tractor is neat. You run the controls without looking. Must have done this a few days/ha!! Appreciate your time for doing the video. You take care and be safe. Thanks. In my area we buy from the farmers. One big problem is they are stopping small bales and doing round. If you find the small bales this year they wanted $5 a bale and you have to get it. It has been a few year the last time i bought hay. So a friend of mine we bought round bales and made small bales for our horses and lambs.

In the Squeeze machine do you have a backup mirror? With all those polls in the barns it would be a disaster if you can't see well backing up. Also what do you do with the hay from the stacks that fall apart? Seems like a tough business as there are so may variables that affect your production.

OK so I've got a few questions you probably won't answer unless this probably one answer I'm just as videos a year old, As far as the grating goes and the use for the hay see we've been raising hay on our place forever 500 pound round bales and the grass we have everybody's that bought it from us that said it's great for their horses cause this behavior will be a Johnson grass, My thing is is what's the difference between the alfalfa and just the straight mixed grass that the horses would probably graze on out in the field anyway Same with the cows wouldn't it be easier to grade the hay a lot simpler and just raise mixed grasses Because ourselves we have a few horses we've gotten from the blm Mustang auction That rolls through Alabama every now and then And a lot of these horses are in great shape and they're coming straight off the range off of eating just whatever they can find So my question is wouldn't it be easier to just do the mixed grass and the horses just adapt to what you're feeding them same with the cows be easier unless the people making the hay to grow the mixed grass or the native grass Also how-do-you-do the grating system like that because the way we grade ours is how long it's been sitting and we go ABCD and F Like F is been sitting almost 2 yealmost 2 years uncovered it's really just betting Hey And Gray day would be 1st cutting of the year undercover or fresh out of field

Hi. I do my best to respond. I agree with you. I would rather not spend a ton of money killing grasses. However we’re making with the customer wants. People want high quality alfalfa, so that’s what we make. And for us, quality is all visual.

@@BalesHayFarmandRanch Hey thanks for getting back to me I'm sorry if there were some typos on the tractor and using talk to text, I just think personally that alfalfa is overheight because some of the native grasses and some of the weeds everybody wants gone actually have a lot of nutritional value and And speaking from personal experience with us using mixed grass Here and just make sure it gets plenty of water and just that ever so slight amount of fertilizer seems we get twice as much yield as we would out of alfalfa at least down here in Alabama,. That and I'm kind of my grandfather's opinion he said if you have to feed the animal anything special just to get peak performance That and I'm kind of my grandfather's opinion he said if you have to feed the animal anything special just to get peak performance That it aint worth having And you need to switch to harder your stock Because you're making more work for yourself and who ever you're buying your feed from. I'd like to know your opinion on whether or not you think alfalfa's benefits have been overheight and is it possible to have high quality Hey out of a mixed grass field Because on our little property we've had a lot of people tell us that our stuff is really high quality and we're not even really doing anything special.
