I switched from palm grip to fingertip grip and noticed a big improvement in aim, especially because I could use smaller mice. It's something that takes a long while to adjust to, so I would recommend people using palm or claw palm give it a try.
Also note on that point with the fingers raised off the mouse ... the higher they are, the longer they have to travel, so the "slower" your latency times are going to be. That's like playing with a higher ping!
This is a casual chat video, trying something new. Sound quality isn't like the others because I was using a small microphone plugged directly into the camera.
Hopefully it's ok!

For palm grip, for it to be properly effective you need to use your full arm to aim, mixing in alongside of wrist movements. Doing this fixes the issue of vertical adjustments, as well as helps with longer movements for lower sensitivities.

don't worry about grip's efficiency, it's all about your arm control and unique control parts of arm. For example ins destroys 99% of aimers and he uses palm grip (after 2 years, yeah...)

@naejimba
@naejimba Жыл бұрын
I agree with this as I actually use palm grip myself; you are basically lowering your sensitivity and when you are finding targets you are using your whole arm. Once you get close to a target then you use all of the subtle adjustments that he shows in the video... I can still make those adjustments with a palm grip, it's just I have to move my wrist/etc. MUCH less than I see people do with finger/claw (which in my experience leads to less fatigue and ZERO pain or discomfort). Even with lower sensitivities those larger arm movements allow you to cover the distance of your pad much faster which helps with things like a 180. You have to have a larger mousepad if you are using your arm, but for obvious reasons that is something people do regardless of grip.
@naejimba
@naejimba Жыл бұрын
@@HappyBeezerStudios , I agree with G.K. here 100%. I use palm grip and a deathadder. Typically people who use palm grip ike the feel of this mouse in their hand, and it being a larger mouse means I NEVER have to worry about my fingers the end of it. Even more interesting though is in the video where he was talking about having to move your index over for scroll wheel; with this setup my index finger does NOT need to move to do so... I simply curve my index finger and it naturally will scroll. It makes me think of how in the video he talks about the side buttons, and how you do not have to move your thumb to hit them, but rather you are using either the tip (which is like the index click) or bend at the joint (scroll). Same concept. Another important thing to mention is that due to the size of my hand the heel of my palm is on the mouse pad and NOT on the mouse itself; technically it is still a palm grip since half of my palm is in contact with the mouse, but my hand isn't choked up against it where there isn't any room to adjust vertically. Now, if I had smaller hands I would not be able to do that, and would not be able to adjust any vertically (just like we saw the demonstration in the video!). So I would assume hand size has a lot to do with this as well. I hope this explains it a bit. =)

This video made me take notice of how I hold the mouse. I thought I was a palm-gripper. Apparently I'm a finger-tip-gripper. The bad news is; even though I'm naturally using an ideal grip, I am wicked horrible at Quake Live, and clearly no amount of mouse gripping adjustments is gonna replace the many thousands of hours needed to be good at a game like this. It is fun to hop into Call of Duty here and there after playing Quake exclusively. The opponents in CoD deathmatches look like they're playing in slow-motion after you've become acclimated to Quake for a bit.

I use palm so i dont have to cramp my hand up all the time. I tried claw for a good 6 months(until my razor died) and while i had no better aim, i ran into all sorts of other problems like clicking when quickly putting the mouse down, activating the side buttons on accident, firing on accident. Palm solves all that. Its way easier to lift the mouse up(if it has a decent shape, ec2 b, mx 518). The grip is way more relaxed as well. Also up and down is hardly ever a straight vertical movement and almost every single time requires forearm aim and then a minor adjustment with the wrist. I never had any issues with that. Many of the youtubers make it sound like palm is so inferior, but i dont think so. I think you didnt use palm long enough or you are simply bad at forearm aim and medium to low sense. I get consistency(less mistakes), a more relaxed grip in long sessions and about the same accuracy and speed. There must be a valid reason that 1/3 of the top 350 csgo pros use ec1 a or ec2 a.

They're mostly all old pros though. More and more people are moving to claw and fingertip You don't cramp your hand if you use the relaxed fingertip grip or relaxed palm grip. If you're using your forearm for vertical aim then youre inherently not anchoring your wrist or do not have a 90 degree angle on your elbow. This is bad for your aim and for your posture.

Was a Fingertip Grip user in 2017, then switched to Claw Grip in 2018.. Then suddently last month i kinda changed and tried using palm grip and i surely think i found the grip for me... I aim so much easier with it.. i've been using fingertip and claw for so long that when i changed to palm, i already have really good micro adjustments, and wrist control but now with palm... i don't have any errors what so ever when i aim or flick to check an angle, as if the palm was the missing link.. I can see so much improvements using palm compared to when i was using claw.. I can even flick my mouse faster, more accurate and with less tension now..

I personally use palm-claw, a lot of these micro adjustments are moved within the fingertips, and having good crosshair placement can eliminate a lot of the issue, ive also NEVER seen someone curl their fingers inward to hit a shot below their crosshair, or extend their fingers outwards on an angle to hit a angled flick, always flick their wrist/arm for shots, far range sure move with fingers but close/medium range no.

Zy, something to consider regarding anchors points. Higher sensitivity wrist aimers tend to have their wrist/lower palm serve as an anchor point. Low sensitivity players commonly use their forearm as an anchor point instead. If you tried to predominately aim with your arm and use your wrist as an anchor point there would be too much drag and friction to accomplish this seamlessly. So the anchor point changes based on context, but it still exists. Edit: Also, the mouse wheel is one reference guide for finger placement, but so are the side buttons. I find that if my thumb is misaligned with the side buttons then I have to adjust my grip to access them during game, which can throw my aim off. In fact, a good indicator that a mouse is properly sized for my hand is that I can comfortably access the side buttons and the mouse wheel simultaneously instead of prioritizing one at the expense of the other, as I found myself doing when I used smaller mice such as the original G Pro.

4:00 "if you can aim really well with palm grip, let me know in the comments, because I don't think I've seen that before" Probably the majority of CS:GO players? Mechanical freak Beaulo of R6 Siege. Most of the elite aim for snipers and flex supports in Overwatch is palm: Surefour, Dafran, RyuJehong, JJonak off the top of my head. Pretty sure it's the most common grip to pair with very low sens. JJonak (MVP of OWL Season 1 - nuttiest aim arguably ever seen in Overwatch) handcam, pure palm grip on G403 & ultra low sens as you can see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5CQgYuCZcufndU I think you got this wrong by saying the best aimers use fingertip or claw. It depends on the game, and the hero/weapon a lot. Quake Live demands a relatively fast and close style due to frequent rocket jumps and the fact that you can't always force long range even if you want to - you will see more fingertip and claw excel there. It makes sense for you as you're like 30cm/360. In something like CS:GO on the opposite side of the spectrum, we see fewer wide flicks, much slower movement, holding of long angles and MUCH less vertical play - thus, a lot more low sens/palm. I'd also argue fingertip lends more to tracking, since that's more about rapidly updating crosshair placement, whereas palm is ideal for flicking, which is more about consistency and precision - easier when fingertip motion is eliminated as that's the smallest muscle group and most prone to subtle erratic/involuntary/twitching motions.

Pros would probably do even better if they didn't use a dumb clunky grip like palm grip. Just because they use palm grip doesn't make it a better option, they're just idiots for not using the superior grips. You have a much better range of motion and more control with the other two grips compared to palm grip. Palm grip is just objectively worse and I bet we'll see more pros in the near future using fingertip and claw grip that actually understand how to hold their mouse better.

7:05 IMO having the pinky back is the better way, and I used to have my pinky and ring finger at the very front. This is most likely because I was a palm user, and it just felt more comfortable. However, I feel like having the ring and pinky finger at the very top doesn't actually grip the mouse. It's kinda just resting on top there. When I used the Viper ultimate wireless, my ring and pinky finger would automatically glide back because the grip with is more narrow than the top. It didn't feel secure. My placing the pinky finger in the middle of the mouse (the part that is more narrow) I felt like I really secured the mouse. There were more grip to it. It felt like I was actually holding the mouse and not just hovering the mouse with my two fingers. The two fingers wouldn't glide front or back because they are in the groove. People should try it. If you have your two fingers just resting straight and in front, you are not actually using the grip curves at all.

Now that I've spent a month using a few different mice, realized I'm a fingertip grip now am using the smallest mouse I have. I think everyone should experiment with different mice for a few weeks, I had long been using one that's too large. I like to use that bony part of my palm to pivot on, makes fine tuning shots wayyyy more accurate. Also got an L shaped desk so I can sit my forearm on the desk for even more stability and to lessen aching wrists.

It's very hard for me to palm the Model O, especially due to the size of my hand. I've found that when running aim tests my aim is actually significantly better when I force a palm grip on the Model O though. I think it's due to my hand size, desk height, and sensitivity combined, but who knows.

Palm Griper for ~14years here ( attempting to be a "formerly known palm griper") . I developed a habit of using Palm grip when I was young because i thought it was the only way to grip a mouse ( i was young and ignorant to other techniques) I personally think I have great aim w/ FPS games, but one of my greatest weakness was micro adjustments, specifically vertical micro adjustments (back and forth movements) because of the restriction with Palm grip. About 8 years ago when I was 15 I got more serious about PC gaming I was aware about different techniques but i figured if I am good at it and already have the muscle memory why change it? ( also I couldn't afford to buy multiple mouses and back then marketing for "gaming" mice was expensive, unlike todays market where you can get amazing mice for 60-90$) Until recently about literally 1 week ago I started Claw griping and it was Day and Night difference ( my hand did get a bit fatigue because it was not use to it) but my aim was so much better and precise, my tracking was better as well and my micro adjustments with vertical movement is soo much better. I really recommend trying Claw grip, it will definitely be out of your comfort zone but it is so worth in my opinion

You mentioned the reason for why palm grip isnt good for aiming and I agree with you, however though I've managed to be able to do the "micro adjustments back and forth, right and left" with it, I can film you a video of me explaining how I do it but just so you know, my grip is palm but my finger tips are raised and pointed perpendicularly on the mouse buttons, just a little bit backwards from where your fingers are, which is mainly the reason why I get the chance to do these adjustments.. anyway just do reply to my comment if you're interested

I was using the ec2-a for a long time with palm grip, I changed over to the g305, I found that my grip style didn’t actually change at all it was just the was no contact on the mouse with my palm which because of the small size meant I could now micro aim which I use more for recoil control so maybe it’s more to do with mouse shape and size rather then grip being any sort of issue, your grip is natural but the mouse isn’t so I’m thinking that it’s more to do with finding the right mouse that fits your grip rather then changing your grip, I’m ordering the rail over the weekend as I’m intrigued to try a unique shape, I wonder how long it will be until anyone can form their own shell.

The grip really doesn't matter. One can aim very well whatever grip he uses. Just look for examples (for instance pro players from different games). It is not all black and white that's why you see different ways to hit the ball in tennis, to play the guitar and ... to grip the mouse. As long long your settings are on point, you don't have any input lag (or 60hz monitor :D) and a relaxed mouse (and body as well) you are good to go. At that point you just have to put some time into the game (generally speaking).
