What a sweetie! My short haired, senior moggy HATES being groomed, but she has been desensitised to our small, handheld vacuum. It took a few years, but she actually seems to appreciate how it removes her loose hair now! I would have no chance trying to clip her claws, but thankfully she goes outside and does them herself on a tree in the garden (or the neighbour's fence - oops!)

Haha! Yes, even indoor cats, if provided with a durable scratching post, can usually keep their nails in pretty good order. We trim Luna's down because she and Nimbus play a lot.

I love Nimbus, but I loved life when it was just me and Luna--and I can't seem to get those thoughts out of my head. My reaction might have been different if I had had a dog as a kid, but Nimbus is my first. I feel "imposter" syndrome--like I'm really a cat person that now has a dog.

Btw furminator isn’t safe for them. It pulls even more hair out and can scratch their skin out. It has mini razors in it.

Hi! I always heard that Furminator it's a huge NO for Siberian cats, that it ruins the outer coat. At least here in Italy all breeders say so.. for how long have you been using the Furminator? Noticed any damage? Thanks

Do you find that their hair is all over your house? If its tufts of hair thats easy to vacuum thats ok, but im just worried about lots of individual hair everywhere on furniture and clothes. I think i’ll struggle. Please advise :)

I have a Siberian cat. What type of blade would you use to clip the fine undercoat fir? My Andis 10 has no impact on her undercoat fir. The 10 would do just fine if it cut the fine undercoat. I am dealing mostly with mats from occasional poop issues. How do you deal with this? What blade will cut the under coat? Suggestions?

I’m getting a Siberian and should I get a furminator? I love the name. Please let me know what brushes work best. LUNA IS SO CUTEEE I CANT SAY IT ENOUGH! Also how does the quick look like?

Zara furminators are pretty controversial because they can be very aggressive and pull out a lot of hair. You might want to start with a slicker brush-in step 2. These types of brushes don’t get out as much fur, but they are more gentle for kittens. I wish I could tell you they don't, but we have puffs of Luna fur all over the house. I actually vacuum her after brushing to keep the hair under control.

It could just be due to seasonal differences. Luna's coat is so much thinner in the summer. Then winter comes--and POOF! It also develops with age.

Hey there! Yes, it might be! Siberians are known to have lower levels of FELD1, the protein to which most people are allergic. I'd recommend finding a breeder near you and visiting with your mom!

@@moldybandshirt1045 I totally understand--I always rescued my cats in the past, but my husband is allergic, so we didn't have a choice. As far as introductions go, I had the reverse: introducing Luna to puppy Nimbus. (If you haven't seen those videos, give em a watch!) Generally, introductions are much easier when at least one of the animals is a baby--which will be the case if you get a kitten. My advice is go slow--if either gets too excited, separate them for a little and try again later.

I am allergic to cats as well, and we had to opt for Siberian cats as well. I will say huge difference with other cats. However, please do tell your mom to try eating cucumbers on the regular. I had started eating them and my cat allergy is at 0% as long as I keep up with eating them. I found out they contain a nutrient in the skin called "quercetin". It calms the bodies unnatural histamine response to non harmful allergens like the FelD1 protein found in cats saliva.

A lot of people in both the cat and dog communities are very much into "boutique" brands of food--especially the grain free varieties (which can actually be dangerous for dogs!). Both veterinarian friends and former Animal Science professors have warned me against going this route, because many of these brands don't go through the rigorous testing that brands like Purina and Royal Canine do. I'm a fan of the Purina Pro lines--which are higher quality than the regular Purina brand.

@@ML-bd3ql I didn't. It isn't necessary unless they are very little, but the choice is yours! There are kitten-formulated wet foods! I prefer dry foods because it's good for their teeth.

Hey. How is every siberian that fluffy? I mean i can see every hair individually, but mine is female and doesn't have a fur that fluffy, she looks more like...washed, wet, idk. I know males have longer fur but im talking about the looks of the fur. Is bath the key? My siberian is 6mo and i never gave her a bath.

I think age is the key. If you look on Luna's Instagram, you'll see that she wasn't as fluffy between the ages of 6 mo. and 2. They "fluff out" as they mature!

I was kinda disappointed since i thought she won't get fluffy or that she wasnt a pure siberian (id love you either way, she's the best). My female Siberian just looked like an extra fluffy cat till she got close to her fifth birthday. When she turned five ... floof explosion lol. She has a wonderful mane-like ruff around her neck and her tail is glorious. She also got way more difficult to groom, though, which is why I'm here. Extra fluffy butts are a challenge ... sigh.
