First of all Ben, congratulations on reaching the 10k. Your videos have excellent editing and commentary, I’m always looking forward to the next one, regardless of the content. I’m not overly keen on iracing, I did my time in it way back when I was in shorts, but I still look forward to watching what you do in it, even if I’m vicariously living my life through your racing!! That’s what brings me back time and time again - keep up the great content and have a great new year and a successful 2024.

Even your video about how to be a creator on KZbin has been just as helpful and informative as your sim racing related content and once again shows why you and your channel have grown. Thanks mate and I can’t wait to see what you bring us in 2024.

Ben, what a great video. I agree with a lot of what you have mentioned. Some of the things you mentioned I do not know about because 1) I am not a content creator. 2) I have not looked into how KZbin works behind the scene. I found your channel because I was looking for specific content and that was creating a livery on iRacing. So having content that people could be looking for is definately a winner there. Hence titles matter. As mentioned before I like the way you present you videos of your racing, a commentry over your race. Works for me as it seems you are actually talking to us, even though we can not talk back. I do like live streams as well, especially if you have a great group in the chat. I used to watch ACC streams because I was new to that game and wanted to learn as much as I could. I do not anymore as I do not enjoy that sim. iRacing is my main stay, but I do watch videos of other sims, AMS2, R3E, rFactor2 etc. AMS2 is coming on in leeps and bounds and is one I am most interested in at the moment. R3E seems to be on a downward spiral, which is a shame as it is a bloody good sim. rFactor2 I do not know what is or is going to happen with that. Hopefully they can break away from MSG and get back on track. Congrats on the 10K, keep up the great work.

My advice to anyone starting out, if you already have an existing YT channel but you want to change it to a focused topic like sim racing, it is far better to start a brand new channel than it is to rebrand an existing one. My channel is just a fun hobby so I'm not concerned about growing it, but if i were to try and grow it I would have to start a fresh channel. The entire history of my existing one is all over the place with content ranging from mine and friends old bands, snowboarding, arcade racers, mario fangames, sea of thieves, and of course sim racing.

Ooo good Q! They’re all potentially chaotic but I think best experience so far was probably the F3 on iracing. Super Formula has been better so far this season, and is definitely the most fun to drive, so maybe if driving standards continue to improve that’ll be number one soon.

Congratulations with your success Ben. I have learned alot from these tips, i started with iracing juist because i wanted to get and race it, rf2 return once i get to a class in iracing. I am in no rush to grow the channel, i kmow it is hard to be a youtuber and it takes time, time to build on my content, the editing and commentary it will come together eventually. How to find more communities Ben? Did i miss that i will rewatch the video anyway. 😁

Yeah, I actually actively avoid channels with click bait titles (of which some are just blatant lies), and channels of creators who try to insult the viewers intelligence, by trying to trick them into posting a comment. OC Racing would be one in my opinion, who checks both boxes. I also avoid creators who focus on toxicity and negativity like GamerMuscle for example. Those channels unfortunately generate a lot of views and the small, honest and dedicated channels are having a hard time staying alive. There's on the other hand this one female sim racer, who started like two months ago, has 13 videos online with mediocre content and already 10K subs. Her thumb nails are targeted to trigger specific neural activity, if you know what I mean. We are such simple creatures :D

I've actually thought about uploading some of my poor attempts at racing. It's the editing and such that seems to be my barrier to entry.
@Burl_Hurlbutt8 ай бұрын
Out of curiosity, were there any videos that you wanted to make early on, but decided against it because you know it would reach no one, and would be better suited for when you had a bit of an audience and foothold in the dreaded algorithm? I've been considering starting a channel for a while, but the few ideas I have that I really think would grab people, feel like they'd be wasted if I started my channel with them.
@Ben_LaBroca8 ай бұрын
Hey buddy - I don’t think there was to be honest, probably because I’ve been making it up as I’ve gone along! What I would say is very early on I did a “guide to ranked racing on RaceRoom” and despite being a very small channel it did solid numbers, much more so than the race videos I was doing at the time. (And it still does!) It also was helped by the devs at RaceRoom picking up on it in their socials, and directed a bunch of people to my other content too. So I think my gut would say you should go for it with your best video ideas. Depending on the nature of them, you can always repeat or do different spins on them over time too. I’ve done a few buyers guides for iracing, for example, reflecting the fact the service is always evolving. Hope that helps and good luck if you do start a channel!

@Ben_LaBroca8 ай бұрын
Hey buddy - so I don’t think for every sim a different channel, but there’s probably some that are a bit more tricky to mix - eg more casual sims and more hardcore sims. Plus it’s about the kind of content you make - eg online racing and offline etc.

@lessthanexpertracing6268 ай бұрын
I heartily disagree with this video. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for you having a YT succes. But.... It's not a question of what sim you prefer. It's mainly a matter of 'Are you entertaining?' Despite what the YT algorithms might tell you, there is a certain kind of people who'll succeed on social media. Out-going people who aren't afraid of being idiots. Chris is the perfect example of this. He's not an alien, nor does he bring anything new to the table. But he has what can only be described as an engaging commentary, which differentiates him from other channels So I'd argue that if you want to succeed on YT...... Figure out what makes you different. If all you're doing is following in the foot-steps of other succesfuld creators, then how are you going to differentiate yourself from the people you imitate? Why would I subscribe to you over e.g. Jardier or Broadbent? What makes you different? Once you figure that out, I'll consider subscribing. I don't subscribe to neither you, nor Chris, because I find either of you fascinating content-creators. (Sorry...) I subscribe because I happen to like both of you. That you just happen to also create videos is a fringe-benefit. That being said, congrats on 10k. While I may disagree with you on any number of subjects, I'd have serious problems arguing for a nicer person for it to happen to. Next stop; 20k. :)
