Fabulous and oh so cheap ideas - great video. I will use Coleus - there are so many wonderful leaf shapes and colors to choose from, in the front of one border, an excellent suggestion. I think I'll experiment with Ricinus in another border as my Tropical Garden slowly matures. Love your videos - useful, practical and most of all tropical panache!

Greetings from Barbados, I really enjoyed this video, I had no idea coleus was considered a tropical plant, it’s one of my favorites and I have about sixteen varieties, this video has been very helpful as I am in the process of creating my own tropical garden .

Hello, in the UK most of the plants with colourful leaves are considered exotic. Coleus are great filler plants for us 😁

Really enjoyed this! My partner loves draceana fragrans and the sweetcorn really reminds me of the leaves. Tempted to buy some seeds and give them a go, I'm sure he would love the look of those in the summer :) Thanks!

Are these seed packs still available on the webshop?

Hi!! I loved this video! Stupid question maybe but are these all evergreens?
@GrowParadise2 жыл бұрын
No stupid questions here! 😀 these plants are all annuals, so they will die in a cold winter.
@margaretwoolley73352 жыл бұрын
I know this is a dumb question but will these plants come back each year? Or do you have to grow from seed each year?

Cheers, Craig. I’ve just had some Amaranthus seeds delivered. Any tips? I was going to water in some compost, surface sow the seeds, put on a heat mat until germinated and then move to a sunny position once established. I tend to bottom water everything. Sound good?

One problem I've found growing Coleus from seed this year is that they all seem to be different colours, even if you buy a pack that's supposed to be of one single colour.
@GrowParadise2 жыл бұрын
That's a shame, another option is to buy a plant you like and take lots of cuttings

Good video, but you should have included how poisonous ricinus is! Not an issue if you dont have pets that chew or children that might want to try things. Especially as one of the plants next to it is sweetcorn!
@GrowParadise2 жыл бұрын
Very good point! Many of the plants we grow and don't eat are poisonous, but Ricinus is a particularly poisonous plant.
@lauraclark81232 жыл бұрын
I decided against growing ricinus for this reason. Yes, lots of plants in the garden are poisonous, but not many children are tempted to munch on a daffodil. But I’ve heard that ricinus can ping their poisonous seeds around. I have a five-year-old, and her friends sometimes visit with younger siblings. I realised that I would never be able to relax whilst they played in the garden, worrying that a toddler might pick up a seed and put it in their mouth. Or a seed might ping over the fence into the neighbouring childrens’ garden.Plants with poisonous seeds or berries strike me as a much greater risk to small children than poisonous leaves or roots.
