Awesome video. I am small KZbinr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

This video helped me come to an important realization, although probably not the one you intended: I'm a hobbyist and always will be. I've been toying with the idea of trying to get my channel bigger, but most of these points make me feel the fun draining out of recording videos. And that's ok! I'd rather have a small channel that I actually have fun with than a big channel that makes me feel like I have a second job. Great video btw! I had it recommended to me as a way to grow my channel.

I've been uploading and trying stuff for a little bit now, and I finally found some success this past week and grew 900 subscribers and counting this week just by finding a less covered game that people wanted to enjoy. This is my 4th KZbin channel. The first 3 are all monetized and have a couple thousand subscribers each. But over time, interests change and I'm now in a phase of life where I don't have too much time for my prior interests. (Parenting 2 under 2... it takes a village, a village that I don't have). Extra tip: actually interacting with your audience. Lets say you have 10000 subscribers, and your live. If your chat is filled with fans, they may want to ask questions about what your doing or ask other things. If you don’t look at your chat, people might get frustrated that you dont see them, and leave. Also, using the community tab to its full potential. It may seem useless when you first look at it, but its very useful. You can use it to tell the viewers loads of things, maybe when your making a video, or if your making a new type of content and want to tell the viewer.

About consistency I think I've found my way! I love to stream and I'd love even more to post my stream highlights as a 15/20 minutes video but it will take to long and I'll be ok for a day. So instead I split those highlights into 6/7 shorts to publish 1 each day of the week which gives me: 1) The possibility of being frequent so my subs know that they will get something every day 2)If I make 7 shorts out of 1 stream, it means that I've got a full week where I can focus on higher quality content since I'm not rushing to publish a video. 3)Due to the quantity of shorts I make, even if not always, I can see my editing skills getting better. I'd love even more to go full time on streaming and KZbin, but I've got a job, can't skip that 😂

Hello! One thing I have realized really works for getting a good mindset is scheuduling videos. It's kind of like that I don't get to see my other video fail before I have scheuduled another video to come out. So before I see that I get no views and just give up, I believe that this video is going to blow up, and therefore I already scheudule another video to come out. Every time I see a video fail, because I already know that another one is coming out and I don't have to put the motivation to make another video, i constantly think that this video is going to blow up. I realized this because I am going on a vacation soon and even though I have like no views I still don't want my content to just stop. This was probably really confusing to read but I just wanted to share that with you and I also have to say that you're video gave me lots of hope that my channel can still become something.

12:37 You can significantly increase the session time across hole your channel if you will start with short videos. Not SHORTS, but short 1-2-3 minutes video. If the new viewer will like your content, then 1-2 minutes always is not enough. The viewer will be motivated enough to click on another one and another one and another...

It boosts session time like a crazy It is a really good start for any youtube channel. Because at the beginning it is much easier to make short content more often and we got a good session time for the whole channel

@@rpm-test Thanks for sharing. I think there are situations where this can work, my only concern is sometimes the supply/demand balance isn't in favour of this strategy in my experience. It seems like, in some cases, if your competitors have high quality content that is longer than yours they'll be promoted above you, and if you can't get people to your first short video in the first place then it doesn't make any difference that your videos are more likely to be binged. Curious to hear your thoughts on this, though.

@@Marcus-Jones Yeah, you are right about long-form videos. In some cases, KZbin promotes longer videos more than shorter videos. For example, I have a channel with stories. My competitors made 10 minutes videos, but I started making 20 and then switched to only 60+ minutes videos. This was the game-changing move. I got more views than my competitors and much more views than my 10 minutes videos on the same channel. My 10 minutes video stopped getting views in 3 months, but my 60 minutes videos are still getting views even 12-18 months later. And the long form was the main factor.

@@rpm-test Yeah, I don't think there's neccesarily a right or a wrong answer here. While my personal opinion is a channel with amazing long videos will USUALLY have a better chance at beating a similar channel with amazing short videos, I think it's situational and can go either way if the creator of the videos is intentional in their strategy.
