Good evening CaliKim. As always, that looks absolutely delicious. I've always said, it's so much better to have an indoor salad station, rather than visiting salad bars. That being said, thanks for sharing your method for growing our own fresh tasty salads all winter at home. 😎😎

Hi Kim! I am always inspired to get more seeds started when watch you plant them. Since I can grow lettuce all winter outdoors, that’s where I will get more planted.

Still planting outside and have polyurethane covers over the beds. But I have my grow light planting station set up in our garage which also has windows. I would go into serious withdrawals without being able to grow through the winter. Thank you for all the info! And again thank you for a great amazing sale. Placing another order! Lol

Hi Kim- I don't know if you will see this but my wife was an avid fan of yours and a great gardener. I do not have a green thumb. Since she passed I have wanted to take up doing an indoor garden with grow lights and aside from herbs I wanted to create my favorite salad base of romaine, spinach, kale, and cabbage. I have cancer and can't really do outdoor gardening at the present time. I watched your series on the indoor salad station and have purchased your recommended rack, grow lights, timer strip, plus the 1 gallon smart pots. My question (finally), can I grow those other greens I mentioned in the 1 gallon pots? I saw the romaine, endive, and the other lettuces you were growing but no mention of kale, spinach, or cabbage? Also, the tiny tim tomato plant you were growing in the video looked like a larger smart pot, what size do I need? Finally, I assume all of these smart pots drip water and I saw you had some in drip trays and how you watered them in those, but many on your rack had no drip trays??? Sorry for the lengthy message but like I said I am a novice at this but I am excited to get started. Thanks you for all you do.

First, Scott, I am so thankful to have had your wife has a watcher of this channel. I am honored. Second, I commend and support you for new ventures in gardening for ALL of the reasons. A fantastic way to honor, remember and be a part of your wife again. Of all the veggies you named, all except for cabbage, will grow in a 1 gal. container. Cabbage is a large vegetable, the smaller cabbage varieties, can go in a5 gal. container. The larger Cabbage varieties will do better in a 10 gal. The Fall Garden Seed Collection has a smallerr variety called Red Acre Cabbage that would be good in a 5 gal. Please keep me posted! My heart goes to you - CaliKim

I bought the clip lights on your recommendation. Had to hunt around a bit to find some bulbs in stock. Used thick wooden stakes in the jugs with sand because I already had them. So far my tomatoes are happy. What is the temperature inside your home? Thanks.

Hello Sandie - great job getting your tomato going and using what you have for stakes! Depending on the outside temperature, temp in the house in winter is usually around 70-75 in the day, 60's at night. Keep me posted on your tomatoes and stay tuned, we'll be doing an update on ours soon! Happy Thanksgiving!

How much electricity does the grow lights use? Are they economical to run so many hours a day? Your plants look delicious.

Hi Steve, they are LED's and cost pennies in electricity. We're loving the salad station, so fun to harvest inside! Did you get yours planted? Happy Thanksgiving!

Love your videos and just planted seeds from your Indoor Garden pack yesterday. A question I have is how to thin out the lettuce when it sprouts since it was rather heavily sown. It looks like you maybe have 4 plants in each 1 gallon container. Is that accurate?
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Marilyn, great job getting your lettuce planted! Yes, around 4-6 plants in each 1 gallon. To thin, just clip the seedlings at soil level so you don't disturb the roots of the surrounding plants. Then eat the thinnings in a salad, they are like microgreens - yummy!! Happy Thanksgiving!

But if lettuce has small roots how will they get water from the bottom
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 2 жыл бұрын
Hello there - the water wicks up from the bottom of the container, through the soil to the roots and they absorb the moisture and any fertilizer you add to the tray. Did you get your salad station planted? Keep me posted!

Hello Habib, it's an investment into your garden and your health, both metal and physical. There's a grow light set up for any budget or space, the Smart Pots and soil can be used over and over. I've used this grow light set up for years, throw the Smart Pots in the washer to clean them up t (air dry) and they're good to go for next planting - much better than using plastic pots that fall apart after a few uses, and better for the environment. Thanks for watching!
