Great setup. Would a dowel-and-hub system like the old Tinkertoys work for this? You'd gain a bit more strength having them attached in a grid - and could build the grid two-boxes high for more support as the plants grew. Would be easier to store as well ... a box of hubs and a stack of flat dowels.

That's an excellent idea! I've been thinking about some type of grid system and wanted to come up with a way I could snap a bunch of hex-shaped hoops together. I was concerned about the hoops getting stuck on the plants, but a tinkertoy setup would solve that. Perhaps you'll see a redesign with your idea in the future. 👍

What kind of pvc and fittings do you use? Is dwv not acceptable? I'm struggling to source pvc that is not dwv.

I wonder if you could seed straight into the grow-grip

Could paper cups work for support? And how about economic consideration: yield x price?

would adding some sealed ends to pvc piping to the underside of the rafts be able to keep the rafts afloat better with the onions so you do not need to use more of the raft material? I dont know which would last longer/cost less.
@Bigelowbrook Жыл бұрын
It's possible. Each raft costs less than $10 so it might be hard to justify buying the plumbing pieces and figuring out a way to attach them.

i would switch to something more controlling from the bottom, in a cupping shape, so as the onion gets large it pushes itself upwards at the same time getting it further frm the water but leaving the sides open to expand out as it pleases, also simpler harvestings
@Bigelowbrook Жыл бұрын
I thought about doing something like that but the mechanics can start to get complicated.

I wonder if this would work with nft systems

I think it could work. I don't have an NFT system to try it
