Another great Vid!! I know this is an older vid of yours, but I’m hoping u can help me with some mini pellia issues I’m having. I bought ten mats of this moss to attach to the top of a “tree” shaped driftwood. The moss didn’t arrive in the greatest of conditions, but after 6 weeks I’m seeing very little to no new growth, and there seems to be browning occurring on certain spots that go and come. I’m thinking that the ferts I’m dosing may be “burning” the mini pellia and not allowing full growth. My PH is at 6.0-6.5, around 40PPM of CO2 after a few hours of lighting. Also, I have a twinstar 900S lighting fixture. My tank is fully cycled and is at 0-0-10/15ppm. Water temp steady at 75. Could my ferts be causing issues. I’m currently dosing NilocG Thrive, Iron once a week, and potassium about three times a week. I have a Monte Carlo carpet that’s spreading and growing healthy, some Anubias, and larger stem plants that are growing insanely. Can I cut down on the ferts without affecting the other plants? What would you recommend?

I have this moss on driftwood growing for about 3 months now and finding lots of long green strands of hair (algae?) coming off it. I have to pull out as much as possible after every weekly water change otherwise it will get out of control. Are you or anyone else out there with this moss finding the same issue? It’s a beautiful looking moss when it’s thick and full but some part of me regrets getting it now because of this issue.

Hi, i just bought a fissidens fontanus aka. phoenix moss.. i'm trying to make it shape like a moss ball. So my question is 1. do i need to arrange the moss to be in 1 direction so that when it grows it will make a nice fluffy ball moss? 2. if i use super glue how long should i wait till i can put it in to my tank? 3. is it okay if i put the rest of the moss that i dont use into an empty bottle? 4. about store it in drawer? thanks alot :)
@ADUAquascaping7 жыл бұрын
you can put it in the tank right after placing the glue onto the moss. You just want to make sure you do thin strands or clumps of moss. It will grow up and like a pillow on its own. I rarely trimmed mine... You can put it in a bottle with some water and place it under a desk lamp. In the dark it will go dormant. I am sure you could bring it back to life over time, but would take longer than keeping it green!

@eugeniovazquez74449 жыл бұрын
What do you mean when you said 30-100 par , what is par ?
@ADUAquascaping9 жыл бұрын
+Eugenio Vazquez Just the radiation measured in micromols. It is the standard now for determining needed light in your tank. 30-49 is medium light, and 50-100 is high, 100+ is very high, below 30 is low. All of these measurements are taken at the substrate, which is the lowest point from the light source. You will see many manufacturers using this measurement as a means to demonstrate how much radiation their fixture will produce, but real-world results will vary. Research PAR ( photosynthetically active radiation) Even more important is PUR (photosynthetically usable radiation). Just has to do with the amount of photons being produced by the light, and the type of nanometer it is emitting. Different plant pigments respond to different wavelengths of light. This, of course, is a very simple explanation.
