Thank you for this very informative video! How often does it like to be watered? Thank you!

I don't really water in Winter, othewise once a week or so, if I don't get rain.

Hi Randy, I really loved this orchid and in October 2022 I managed to get one. It is planted in bark, so according to your video I need to plant in peat, early in spring (end of February). Although I live in Greece and the weather has been very warm up to date (no cold yet) I had no new growth, no new sprouts from the base of the plant. Do you think it might be because of winter time or it has to do with the pot (12 cm) and the substrate? Many thanks in advance.

Hello Yes, this is a terrestrial plant. I usually grill it in potting soil, loosened with bark, perlite, and wood chips. Mine don't grow much, or at all, until spring here.

@@Sheikyerbouti8 Thank you Randy! My potting mix will be close to the one you described, and I hope it might show some growth afterwards, in spring time.

I’m in Bloomington Indiana. Is it still too early to put bamboo orchids outside?
@Sheikyerbouti82 жыл бұрын
I don't really know. I've never been to Indiana. Use your best judgement. They're not really any more cold sensitive than most other tropical plants.

Here in Tampa they bloom toward the end of summer or early fall

I have a small and young one of these, growing wild in the rocks in my yard, here in Hawaii. Would I kill it, if I carefully dug it up and put in deep soil by my house?
@Sheikyerbouti82 жыл бұрын
It would probably survive it just fine. Just be sure to water it a bit more at first after replanting it.
@jeffreywickens33792 жыл бұрын
@@Sheikyerbouti8 I actually dug it up and re-planted it, a few hours before I saw your reply. It's doing fine now, no transplant shock. :) Thanks for answering.

My bamboo orchid has a bunch of pods, what do you suggest I do with the pods?
@Sheikyerbouti83 жыл бұрын
I just chuck them. I've tried sprouting the seeds before, and they never grew for me. Some terrestrial orchids will. You could give it a shot though, just sprinkle the seeds on some moist soil and keep them very humid under a dome or in a plastic bag.

I am growing this one, how do you propagate this one? When I tried separating them, one rooted cutting died. And should i fertilize it often?
@Sheikyerbouti810 жыл бұрын
Hi Jazz. After they bloom, the pseudostem will grow keikis near the top. Once they are around two, to two and a half inches long, I break them off and plant the base in moist potting soil. I keep them in shade until they are rooted well. You shouldn't have to fertilize them more than once a month. I don't fertilize that often.
