Hey Danny, thank you so much. I am becoming the orchid guy at work. I currently have 11 rescues from teachers who receive them and then neglect them. Some of which have come straight out of the garbage. Because of your videos, my rescue success rate has gone way up. Some of my rescues have been incredibly remarkable. I have also taught some teachers how to care for their orchids and my one friend still has blooms from the plant he received in September of last year.

My late mother loved orchids so much. She was able to grow some and took care of them til she passed away in 2014. Vanda, catleya and dendrobiums are the only ones she had and I remember pretty well how she wished to have Phalaenopsis. With this channel, I am now being inspired to fulfill that wish of her. I will try my very best to look for Phalaenopsis and give myself a chance to grow them and take good care of them. Thank you for producing educational videos such as this that help an emerging ochid lover like me to understand more about these beautiful flowering plants. God bless!

I bought an orchid then sat down to watch your videos on how to care for them. I'm so glad I started watching your video or my orchid would have died. Two leaves, a large and a small, closest to the roots started turning brown in the center. I watched the repotting video and realized my orchid was in a pot without slits. What's more, the moss was so impacted in the roots that after I was done pulling all of the moss out, I had enough to pack my size 10 shoe. The pot is only as big around as my fist. I was amazed at the amount of moss stuffed within the roots. I so hope I can keep this orchid alive. I didn't feel I had time to wait for anything to be shipped to me, so I went somewhere in town and found stuff to repot my plant. I couldn't find a see-through cup, so I cut slits in the cup it came in.

Thank you SO much for this video, it took way too long to find. I recently became an orchid parent to two orchids as condolence gifts and I am determined to do right by them even though I have zero experience. They just finished dropping their blooms and I have been all over the internet trying to find a clear guide on what to do now. They are both behaving very differently. So far everyone seems to assume a bit of starting knowledge or explains only one situation, so there seemed to be a lot of conflicting info. This video answered all the specific questions I had that I was having little luck finding answers to! I'm off to watch the rest of the series now, and thank you again. 🙏💜

My Phal has been growing like crazy. It had two flower spikes when I got it and I didn't trim the spike whatsoever, it grew a lot of new leaves, and some of the roots even grew straight up! Towards the end of December I noticed that there were two new flower spikes coming from the base of the plant and the two previous spikes were flowering. I was gifted with 4 flowering spikes! It is now flowering for a second time on one of the previous spikes, so I've had so far 6 months of flowers :)

So I don't need to trim it and the plant will bloom on the old spikes again too? The part with the trimming confused me, when I do that all the time after the flower bloomed I will end up with sometims don't having any spikes.

Earlier this summer I trimmed off one of the flower spikes on mine because it was dried up, but the other one looked green stil. After following your fertilizing advice all summer it now has new roots, a new flower spike coming up and the spike I left is putting off new branches and showing signs of buds. I couldn't be happier. We bought it early last year and it stayed blooming all last winter into spring. This is the first time I've ever had an orchid produce new spikes for me. Thanks for all the info you share.

A friend of mine gave me a small orchid that was not thriving... until I put it at my place in a room filled with light. To my surprise, it developed a keiki on an old spike and two new spikes grew from the plant. On one of the new spikes, three secondary spikes grew and on the other spike, one secondary spike also grew! So the plant has one keiki and six spikes, which should give a total of 28 or 29 flowers when in full bloom!!! It is a small orchid and I am astonished by its vitality as I have done nothing special. It just has a lot of natural light and some water once a week! It is a blessing to see it.

Hello Dani hope you and your loved ones are well 🙂 I just had to get back to you to let you know that as a result of your amazing knowledge and accessible information and guidance my poor orchid that looked ready to be binned has a lovely new centre leaf 😮 I gave her a good drink for 15mins and sure enough her poor wee neglected roots turned green. That is a wonderful thing to know. I never realised that orchids needed a soak like that. I have sent away for an orchid repotting kit and can’t wait to spruce her up 🙂 Apart from feeling guilty about neglecting the plant I wanted to try and save her because my husband bought me it to cheer me up a few years ago. It’s symbolic of the love of my husband and the determination of the orchid to survive 😌

I am a noob at orchids so followed all your recommendation.. got one and have watered it weekly chopped the spikes as you said and all I have grown are some fantastic green leaves..its been a year since it flowered but just in the last week it has sprouted a new flower spike from the main plant which is exciting but nothing from the original two spikes.. but its a win I didnt kill it!

Thank you so much for the lesson. I just bought my first blooming orchid after trying to save 2 very sick orchids that were given to me a few months ago. I gave up after they got worse instead of better. I followed all the instructions I could find but they had little to no chance from the start. I’m looking forward to starting fresh and hope to succeed with my new phalaenopsis, thanks to your information!

i need to binge all of these videos, i have 11 phalaenopsis, the oldest is 3 years old, and i only keep them in water, but sometimes i wonder how to make them even happier, so im glad i stumbled over this! I already had learned about rootcare, knowing when to let the flower focus on roots/leaves instead of blooming when needed just by observing and working on it, but a lot of the other stuff is super helpful!

I have couple of orchids. I managed kill two of them. 😐One by overwatering which caused rotting the main stem. And the other one (my first ever one) by forgetting I had an orchid. It took me a year to realise And it was only because we were moving houses 🏡 😯 BUT I brought them back to life, both of them 😇. First one (over watered) by cutting everything off to the its very core and left it on window silling to dry it out on direct sun ☀️ and I think she loved it. It took about two weeks to show me I managed to save her. 😊 And the second one (forgotten one/dried out) I cut dried stems off, repoted and watered it everyday bit by bit until I saw roots were healthy green. So my conclusion about orchids is that Orchids are very hard to kill. If people tell my otherwise it’s because people give up on them. And I never had issue with leaving them on direct sun in summer. Anyway I love your videos, you’re sharing lots of useful information which is nice and helpful 👍 keep what you doing, you’re doing a great job 🙂💖

I also killed one of my orchids by forgetting I even had it, I am now in the process of trying 5o revive it. I cut off all the dried out roots, cut a bit off the ends of the stems because those were a little dried to, and watered it. At first, the leaves were hanging down and were very soft but now they are getting harder and aren't hanging down so much. There also was some kind of insect in some white stuff hiding in a leaf that rolled itself up, so I removed it ofc very nasty. Also, I got her a brother yesterday so she isn't so alone!

Hey thanks for the info. Actually I brought a dying orchid from my workplace because one of the resident threw it in garbage. I just repotted with freshly miss from hiking trail. Then I followed your instructions about cutting the dead stem and guess what happened? After 2 weeks, it started growing new roots and after a month new stem came out from viable eye. Finally I got white orchid flower after 3 months….isn’t it rewarding. I loved it Thank you

Thanks so much. Three gift orchids "seemed" to be "losing it"; now I know the hot summer is growth time, not flowering season. I WAS a bit suspicious of that, when the first one which had lost ALL its flowers and gotten brown stalks grew new, healthy leaves as it did. Thanks for putting together such an informative and encouraging video. MUCH better to get it from the "horse's mouth" of a profi than some rumor or hearsay.
