Learn how to grow Beetroot in a few easy steps from Quickcrop and expert vegetable grower Klaus Laitenberger. Beetroot is a very easy one to grow. You can either sow directly into the ground or in modular seed trays. Personally I like sowing in modular trays because you're more in control of the early stages and as beetroot needs to be thinned it's much handier.

Excellent videos. I have grown beets for many years using what you call modular trays. I call them plug trays. I have never thinned the plants finding that given enough space between each group of seedlings the beets will create their own space and grow perfectly fine right next to each other.

This was a very informative and engaging video. Thank you so much for making it and sharing it. I've tried to grow beetroot in the past but without much success. From watching your video I understand that I didn't thin the plants out enough, didn't keep them watered enough and I fed them about fortnightly with a liquid feed that focused on nitrogen. I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be able to grow a good crop of beetroot now. It's almost sowing time for it in New Zealand (where I live).

I tried plugs recently with no real success - but, looking at your video suggests that a) My cells were too shallow and, b) I didn't wait long enough before transplanting! Very nice video, by the way. Nice and relaxed and easy to absorb. Thank you very much.

Its often a good idea to allow time for the seedlings to develop a strong root , its always tempting to get them into the ground as soon as possible.

In Europe beetroot can be planted from mid-Spring right through to late Summer making successive sowings for a lengthy harvest. If you are frost free I imagine the growing season can be even longer in Tulsa.

What climax could beets grow in? I live in Alberta and the hottest it ever gets is maybe 30 degree Celsius and its typically hot only from May-August. But the weather can be hot one day then cold the next, what do you recommend to garden with a city that have inconsistent weather?

These are good tips for beginners, but I caution you not to hang on every word they are saying. When Klaus says "sow in late April" he's talking about for his grow zone. Your grow zone may differ, and I'd say do some research as to when your last frost date is in your area and plan seeding crops accordingly.

It will take care of itself, nature has a way of doing that. But when we cultivate crops we grow vegetables more efficiently, increasing yield and preventing pests and diseases.

@smas3256
@smas3256 Жыл бұрын
Those very nice seeds are clumped, 2 or 3 seeds in one. Needs thinning most likely. If you are in another grow zone than northern Ireland you are better off finding a seed company that produces seeds in your grow zone where the veggies were grown. Veggies grown in a warmer climate and the seeds will do better when seeds are grown in nearly the same climate. That is why I am saving seeds from my plants that love my soil and climate. So much fun. Very rewarding.

I was told beetroot does not transplant well, well I see you miss proved that idea, Im sure as long as you get the full root they are ok. I grow the long ones as I can pickled beets and love to juice them.
@Quickcrop
@Quickcrop 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Noel, Yes, we find that beetroot does survive transplanting quite well. Like with most young seedlings it is important not to crush the stem with unneccesary manhandling, always handle them by the leaves. When transplalnting ensure that you have a good sized, well watered root ball and at least two true leaves have formed. Good luck, Tony.

Hi Noel. I would also make the point that beetroot needs to be out of the modular trays quickly, if it gets constricted it won't grow on well which is why people say you can't transplant it. We grow in 84 cell trays and make sure the beet plants are out after 3-4 weeks.

Islamic and traditional medicine is found since the time of prophet David and today the scholars of this field are curing cancers, infertility, tumors, HIV, Hepatitis, cysts and all the diseases you can imagine which has no cure in Modern chemical medicine! so long story short, we use beetroot leaves for these diseases: arthritis, Alzheimer and to purify the blood and remove the toxins and making red blood cells in the body washing the head with the boiled beetroot leaves remove the dandruff and cure fatty hair and other benefits we get from beetroot leaves . P.S it's not a medicine based on granny remedies, it's a scientific field we are following
