Ashley Wills cuttings with developed roots are excellent propagating materials.do not try the seeds. You will water for many years before fruiting.black pepper is vine plant that thrives in mild tropics. 300 m up within equator zone is ideal for black pepper plants. Clayloam or loam soils are very good mediums. Volcanic soils are excellent.

Love this video. So few out there on growing black pepper. Sounds so easy. I've been wanting to grow black pepper for a long time now, but just getting around to looking it up. Sounds like it will do well in FL. So prolific, and a bottle of peppercorns is upward of $5. Crazy U.S. market!

Very nice video.I was wandering in Logees website to order some stuff and happened to see pepper plants !! I am from the home of black pepper.Kerala, India. I always wanted to grow them here in Texas but had no idea I can find it here in US.Recently bush pepper ( we call it kutti kurumulaku) is very popular in kerala. In good old days we train the vine on huge trees like mango or jack fruit tree. But it was facinating to see families are growing high yielding bush variety in grow bags now !! I was wondering if there is a chance to get those here.I would have bring one if customs allowed 🙂

A great video! Thank you. Over the years my husband and I have purchased a bunch of citrus plants from Logee's. We are outdoors in the summer and then indoors in winter. I'm wondering if you might consider doing a raising citrus video for your viewers! We so enjoy the lovely flowers scent during winter and spring! Any advice on keeping the plants healthy with fertilizing regiment (kinds of ferts, frequency...controlling scale...). Sometimes ours seem to get a little chlorotic looking...and the sooty mold can be a nuisance. Any advice and direction would be wonderful! Our Buddha's hand is enormous this year! Lol! Such a fragrant crazy fruit!

Ok,, Im at a loss here. At my home in California I had a Pepper Tree. Yes a tree. Trunk was about 2 feet in diameter,(3 1/2 feet at the base). Foliage was about 20-30 feet in diameter and about 25 feet tall. Real nice shade tree. It was there when I bought the house. The house was built in 1925 so I'm guessing the tree was planted about that time too. This tree had the same berries as your plant. Same smell and taste also. It did however have a smaller leaf. Can you explain the difference to me please?

Different plant. Schinus molle. As you mention it’s a tree. The true pepper Piper nigrum is a vine and tropical, it can’t take below freezing temperatures.

Pepper plants do not do well in cold weather, although there are areas in South Florida where they do grow them - and of course they do get cold spells during the winter. But in central Florida they would probably not make it.
