Hi Jim, I bought two junipers to keep in containers. They did wonderful inside with temp 68 - 72 then I placed them outside with temp 80 - 88, now high 100's, and in a bigger container. They have browned significantly. Not sure if it is the change in weather, the soil, or spider mites (don't see any webs, but seen them in my back yard). I placed two rocks at the bottom of container, soil mixture containing potting mix, perlite, pea moss and sand (from another channel).

@@dingdong6005I like the blue point better for my zone 7b/8a in mostly full sun, to include afternoon sun. I e only watered mine if we go weeks without water in higher summer temps. However it gets only morning sunlight and a bit during sunset, so would say 30% sun and not every day during winter months. Also it does rain now and then so would you say it could handle rain? Because in the video is said that doesn't like wet space at all. Also from you experience, does it shed anything at all? just need to consider this as need something that doesn't shed at all due to another flat balcony below mine.

What a great summary presentation! Thank you. Jim, I’m planting 30 of these blue point junipers next week in Grand Junction, Colorado, a 6b zone with basic clay soils in a desert in a drought! My biggest concern is frequency of watering during the initial establishing period this fall/winter/spring before the 100+ degree temps return next May-Sept. Any tips on frequency/volume of watering schedules while they are starting their rooting journey?

Help please!! - I planted 4 Blue Points last early spring for use as privacy. Dug the holes and spaced properly. I do have clay soil but amended soil and fertilizer my nursery told me to use. They are growing beautiful that is until I noticed some of the tips are turning yellow/brown and one of the trees the whole inside is brown. I believe this is blight? - I have not seen any spider mites or their webs. I even did the white paper test with a magnifier. I'm not sure how to care for them. I know if nothing is done, they will die or are already dying. Can you give me some suggestions, please? They are so beautiful. Thank you -

Thanks so much for all your information, I wish I had seen this about 16 years ago when I planted mine. It has grown very well into a 12 feet tree but the last few years the lower branches started to brown more and more towards the top it almost brown 2/3 of the tree. I planted it in a southeast facing corner of a the house on a small hill with clay soil It's also a spot where the rain comes down through a gutter pipe. I am not sure if it got too much water or not enough because it's usually a more dry spot facing south east. I am wondering if I could rescue it digging around the roots an fill with composure and pine mulch for the clay issue and also star cutting out a few seemingly dead branches in between fit more air.... thanks for any ideas on that matter!

I have planted this plant maybe 10 " out from a column by front porch. It has not really thrived but isnt dying. But your directions indicate I may have put it in the wrong location. It does not get full sun but partial sun. And I have it near plants that need water. I've not elevated it. So my question for you is, should I move this tree to another location where it gets full sun. This one is shaded by a big shumard oak part of the day. If I transplant it could you give directions to do this without destroying the root system in a way that compromises its health. Thank you. My juniper is kind of a dull bluish green.

Jim, I had to prune my Blue Points because of dogs. They caused the bottoms to turn yellow from urine. I pruned up from the base about 6-9 inches, and the plants are about 3-4 years old @ 3-3.5ft tall. In my mind, as they grow out it shouldn't look too far up from the base and still have a somewhat classic shape. Have I messed up my Blue Points? Ypsilanti, MI Zone 5 to 6, and they are in full sun. Thanks!
