Or when the plant(s) are over more than half of the pot size? I want to make sure I am giving it what it needs. Please help a new grower out

If I want to plant my bulbs in a pot, what’s the minimum diameter pot I should use if I plant just one bulb in it? I just got some bulbs and living in Northern California, I’m also wondering if it’s too early to plant them if I start them indoors. One more question: if I start them indoors, how necessary is it that they are in sunlight? I know it’s not the same thing, but I once grew a pot of catnip in a dark bathroom drawer. Any answers to these questions will help me so much. Thanks so much for this super informative video.

One of the outdoor photos you've shown, there are ferns, rex begonias, and caladiums mingled all together. Is that your own garden? If so, I would like to know what is the silver-leafed plant with burgundy stems nearest the camera in the right corner. I believe I had some cuttings of that, many years ago, but it did not survive, and I can't remember what it is. I feel like it's something within the Acanthaceae family, based on the leaf structure, and it looks very similar to my persian shield. Just with slight difference in texture and color difference.

Hello Craig! Please help!!! I recently visited a tropical country with absolutely gorgeous plants and saw caladiums plentiful growing, I uprooted some without any bulbs or roots and I currently have them in a glass with distilled water and sphagnum peat moss soil. Do you think it will eventually grow new roots and can potentially survive? I notice the green and pink color getting lighter :( Thank you for your advice!
@GrowParadise3 жыл бұрын
Hello, in my experience with Colocasias the colour gets lighter when they are stressed. I'm not sure if they will root but by all means do experiment and let me know how it goes 👍🌱😃
@katrinahuff95502 жыл бұрын
I realize this is an old comment, so your plants are probably not still alive... You'd need the bulb. This isn't a type of plant who can grow roots from just a leaf (some can, like begonias!).... but please don't poach plants from their natural habitat. Not only does that possibly deplete the natural environment and population of that plant, but it's usually quite illegal without a horticultural/botanical harvesting license. You may also get into trouble bringing plants back home, coming through customs. There is strict rules and licensing involved to do that legally. Caladiums are often very affordable and easy to find in many colors, in shops and online.
