Tip. Coraline algae LOVES Strontium. If you add it in the beginning , you should start seeing coraline growing within 10 to14 days. Of course ,make sure that your alkalinity , Calcium , and Magnesium levels are all in the good range as well.

I've had my tank up for 2 months and I grow coraline algae like crazy! I have no live rock in my tank. I do have live sand, but I think that live san was dead when I added it because it was dry. . .

Probably my favorite thing to have in a tank, a sure sign of success. I'm regretting that I didn't seed the tank with live rock this go round, the time to grow is painful. Nice tips for getting it going. I'm going to have to try promoting the growth with some more nice frags. My LFS locally don't have any snails with coralline shells.

+J Plum Some people don't like the way it looks. But for me I love the color in the coralline algae. You can try to get frags from local forums too. Thanks for watching.

? If I buy a used tank that has been dry for 1.5 years yet has a build up of coralline algae (on the back wall only)....should I remove it or keep it? Is there any potential of pests?

Interesting. My tank is 3 weeks old and im already getting a good ammount of coralline algea spreading on my live rocks. A couple clowns. Small cleanup crew and a BTA. Water has been great and just did my first waterchange yo make sure everything is good.

Hey guys. I started a reef tank about a week ago & was given dry rock & water from a buddy of mine who has a tank & it's been a week & I see some pink spots throughout the tank on rocks and a few red/pink/purple little dots on 2 of the rocks. I've been reading up on it but can anyone help me out. I saw his tank and decided to get into it.

If dust pieces of the coralline algae is in the water it can help spread the growth in your tank.

had an explosion on coralline , red blood like drops, and purple over night like, but it all of a sudden stopped at that. going to try and ramp my blue lights up more and elevate my levels and see what happens
@PurelyAquatic8 жыл бұрын
Maybe something happen with the parameters. Coralline algae is pretty easy to maintain once you have some in the tank.
@kiillintime25968 жыл бұрын
yeah, I'm not detecting any nitrates and phosphates in the system, but I must have some cause I fight hair algae. the hair dies and comes back over and over. I just stopped doing weekly water changes. maybe the system needs to level out for awhile. I don't know. trying a different approach to it all. might get a bottle of that no3po4-x and try that

Hey there .... Must Say I really liked your vid even tho it's made back in 2016 I found it very informing ..... I must say I had very bad experience where by I already had some Coralline Algae growing on my live rocks & waz also using purple up, So yeah I saw another vid on KZbin saying if u scrub the Coralline off the rock with a brush Or even a blade it'd spread the spoors in the tank ???? Ok so I gave it a shot & the next day I wake up to see almost 200$ worth of my fish dead, I'm left down to 1 fish now & gonna have to buy new 1's, It's really discouraging when your trying to do 1 thing & then end up with another ........
@PurelyAquatic6 жыл бұрын
Scraping coralline algae off the glass should not kill your fish. It's probably something else that caused that. Because if this was the case, all my fish should be dead by now. Look at all the reefers who actually don't like coralline algae on their glass. What do they have to do to get it off... scrape it off and you don't see their fish dying?
@mustakvisanji24776 жыл бұрын
yeah it's really odd that that happened to me very upsetting having to lose the fish I did, I did watch other videos where by ppl are scraping it off there rocks & glass with in the aquarium & that's what I did with a blade on my rocks I saw lil things coming off my rock & was spreading through out the tank, I was like ok this is a good thing & yeah I wake up & like I said fish are dead expect 1 of them witch still trips me out. So what I did was a 30% water change let see how that goes with the 1 fish that's in there now & then thinking of trying out a bottle of Seachem Reef Strontium.

Scrape some scoreline algae off a rock into a blender,add salt water magnesium and calcium then blend,poor into tank and wait about a week you will see it growing fast.must have proper balance in water though.

Damn! Can't believe your new tank is growing Coraline already... Took me almost a year to see spots on my back wall lol. On the fence if Imma gonna regret it or not tho... Alk and calcium consumption are low at the moment.. Hate to have to start dosing

+CJ'S AQUARIUMS Yeah it was because of that MP10 covered coralline I placed in the new tank. :) I really hate dosing too.. :/ Maybe I'll invest in an auto doser down the road...

What is the salinity range coralline algae can live in?
@PurelyAquatic8 жыл бұрын
Good question, I've only kept my salinity from 1.024-1.026 range so I can't be 100% positive it can grow at lower/higher range. I'm sure +/- a few 0.001 won't matter.

I just started my tank, it is a fish only tank. Will I still get coralline algae if my light aren't meant for corals?
@PurelyAquatic8 жыл бұрын
It'll still grow coralline algae, but at a slower rate. If you have a planted light setup, that's ideal for coralline algae.

Hi, can you sell me a frag (or little rock) with coralline algae? I have a purple up (recently buy) but I haven't anything coralline algae in my tank, thanks !
@PurelyAquatic8 жыл бұрын
My best suggestion would be buying a frag from your LFS. It's cheaper that way and you'll get a coral.
