@preciousbloomsja Жыл бұрын
Hi Casandra, I have never used that concept before as I am afraid the coconut husk may retain water and cause root rot to the dendrobium. As you can see in one of my videos, I removed the coconut husk from the roots before potting with gravel and charcoal. However, if you feel comfortable to try that concept, please go ahead and do let me know if the orchid is thriving okay in that medium. Cheers and happy growing🙌🏽👌.

Precious, I wish for you as pleasant of an afternoon as your orchids are to your viewers. I just discovered you today and already you have WOWED me into commenting. I too am an avid orchid lover. But my scale is extremely small as, I have just started to give my passion for growing orchids, serious thought and attention. My parish adjoins yours but, I am original Clarendonian. I need your help please.

Very informative and I'm happy dendrobium can be acclimatize, as i was also of the same perception that they required shade

I have also discovered that cattleyas and broughtonias can be acclimatized as well using the same method as the dendrobiums.

Hello my precious friend, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. It takes a couple of months to get the orchids acclimatized to full sunlight, depending on the condition of the climate where you live but once you get a new growth during the process then the plant has adapted to its new environment. Can i do the same here in the philippines? During summer just like now it can get as high as 42*c .
@preciousbloomsja3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for tuning in to my channel. Yes, u can try my acclimatizion concept, however, during the hot summer, you may want to use palms and other plants to give the dendrobiums filtered sunlight, during the acclimatization process. As the climate gets cooler, you can then remove the palms to allow the plant to become fully acclimatized on its own. There are times that the exposure to sunlight may become unbearable for the plants and so you will need to just use other plants to give them a little shade. Thanks again for watching, happy growing from Precious Blooms👍😊

One of my mature dendrobium was showing a lot of root activities and I expected it to bloom. But what I thought spike turned out to be keiki. It is getting enough about 3 hours of sunlight. Why the plant is giving keiki instead of flower? Any idea ? I am from India Btw great video. Eye opener
@preciousbloomsja3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thank you so much for tuning in all the way from India. I do appreciate your support. Your plant perhaps need some more sunlight in order to produce blooms. A plant may produce lots of keiki if it is under stress or the mother plant is about to die. That's the plant's way of ensuring that it does not die, by sending out these offsprings. However, in your case, since it's only one keiki your plant has produced, this seems to be just a natural build up of hormones at the plant's node. So try introducing your plant to some more sunlight and also apply some bloom booster fertilizer and hopefully it will bloom soon. Thanks again for watching, keep safe and God bless🥰🙏

@@preciousbloomsja From the day I bring new dendrobiums I keep them in my garden and let them get morning sunlight as morning sunlight doesn't burn leaves. After about 1 month I transfer them into a place that they get light for many hours. The keikis from such mother plants are already acclimatiszed and never get harmed by light. I grow even my phaelanopsis orchids in full sunlight.

I would like to know if an established dendrobium can put in the sun.
@preciousbloomsja4 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be acclimatized but u will have to train it before placing it in full sunlight. Begin by introducing the plant to the morning sun for about 2 hours. Do this for about 3-4 months then give the plant a few more hours of sunlight for another 6 months or so. Thereafter, you can gradually introduce to full sunlight. What's the climate like in your area? Also, this season is the best time to acclimatize the plants because it is much cooler now. Happy gardening from Precious Blooms👍💐🤗
