The Chinese have consumed garlic in three ways for thousands of years: bulbs, greens, and scapes. The latter is considered delicacy.

Love this idea! I planted walking onions last year, only 3 bulbs. They formed bulblets and i planted them this fall and they're coming up! The birds also planted a couple in my geranium pot!! I used some greens and they are delicious. Off to find some organic garlic. 😉

It almost seems like they make varieties of every fruit and veggie for each temperature zone!! It was so cold here in Georgia last winter that everyone's rosemary died...😢 Keep on planting!❤❤❤

There are a few soft neck varieties you can grow in Florida. Elephant garlic is subtropical and some of these other varieties are suitable as well: Creole, italian, & California Late. 😊 its not too late to plant!!!

This is the first year I bought some seed garlic varieties. Planted them last year in a raised bed but this year all in totes and dishpans. They are selling my duplex and who knows if this will mean I have to move in the spring. :( But if I do....they are coming with me! :D

What about drainage in the dish pans and trash cans. It looks like you're not making any drainage holes. Do the sticks at the bottom makeup for that and does the water just sit at the bottom and not rot the garlic,? Do I not need drainage holes? I use your tote method and those have drainage holes. I grow great vegetables in those. But I'd like to do this especially if I don't have to drill holes or solder holes.

I truly need to do this because I use a lot of garlic during cold and flu seasons. I didnt know there was a way to do this during winter. I have a question...eating all these foods you grow organically, are you and Gary ever sick? Garlic really fights viruses.
@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy

Rarely sick, Gary did get some sort of virus over a month ago, and he was really sick for days ( which is rare for him) and I never caught it from him 😊

The plant will still grow, but she does say it slows the bulb forming part down. Still, I do enjoy using some garlic greens to make dip.

Should totes be out in the elements or under cover from rain?
@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy
@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy 7 ай бұрын
As long as you have good drainage it should be fine, if it is too cold with tons of rain then a bit out of the rain could be better. When I grow garlic in buckets, if it’s raining way too much and cold, I can just move the buckets , but I watch the plants if they look like they’re fine then I leave them

Good Early Morning Robbie, I’m confused as to what exactly you are trying to grow: An actual Garlic Bulb? or just the green leaves? I ask because from what I’ve learned is that most if not all garlic must grow through a winter season to grow properly to full maturity. In winter 2021 I tried growing Elephant Garlic and unfortunately I didn’t sanitize the cloves before planting and I didn’t put big enough drainage holes in the buckets; I wasted so much time and money. Thank You for the garlic 🧄 video. I ❤ Garlic, and it’s sooooooÖH good for us.

I think maybe she is saying use the greens because garlic does not reliably bulb in her area? Also, she pre-sprouts them to make sure they are viable before planting. Since all my garlic always comes up, I have never pre-sprouted. I just use Costco garlic. Also, my zone, while it can be hot, it does freeze, so I always get bulbs. Sometimes, not super big but mine seem to bulb reliably. From her other videos though, her area seems to not freeze or barely freezes. She can grow tomatoes and peppers year round. This is very different than my zone 8b for example.
