Great video. I had no idea you could use ginger roots from the store, but now that I see them, it makes sense. Fantastic tip. And the PDF download is awesome! Thanks Roxana.

I use a lot of ginger both for cooking and in teas. It’s brilliant for my arthritis. I have very limited indoor space though but might be able to start just a little bit. It also makes a beautiful plant.

It does! If you have a little space for a planter than you can definitely grow it!

I freeze mine! Because that’s how I want to use it when cooking! Some people dehydrate it and turn it into a powder.

Do you ever use egg shells and coffee in your garden? If so how. Thank you. Some people say yes some people say no how do you feel about it thank you so much
@emkn1479
@emkn1479 Жыл бұрын
Just adding two cents…from what I’ve heard they both need to be broken down in order to be bioavailable to your plants, so we just add them to the compost pile. But maybe crushed egg shells can help to ward off slugs or snails? 🤷‍♀️

I don't use these 2 in my garden directly, just no specific reason, if I had a compost pile I would throw those there but I don't.
@emkn1479
@emkn1479 Жыл бұрын
@@doowopshopgal gotcha. I’m pretty sure you can add them to the soil but they won’t do much for the plants until they’re broken down, which can take awhile, especially for the egg shells.

Bad idea breaking the ginger into pieces and planting them without leaving the damaged area to dry out first.

I started my ginger inside end of January and am excited for my 2nd year growing it to see a bigger harvest! I like how you didn't plant as deep as I did... I am wondering if it will make a difference. And I love that you made a PDF - on your way to a book!

Yes, I don't know how much covering it completely with soil will do, regardless we will get some ginger in the end :) A book? One day friend, writing a book somehow garden related is one of my dreams.

Nice video, one thing we do after breaking the ginger is to let the end calls overnight. This way you will not encounter rot or disease ginger.

Hello Rox! I have 2 questions. Do these take full sun once outside? And when sprouting indoors, do I have to have them under grow lights and/or heated mat? I have some soaking in water right now. I'm so excited! Haha
@SoilandMargaritas
@SoilandMargaritas Жыл бұрын
They take full sun but like a bit of evening shade. Once they sprout, put them under lights, if you used a heat mat for helping them sprout I would take them off of that!
