Hi Matthew, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about this orchid from you. I am excited for you that you have found a new orchid family with which to experiment and I hope to see the others sometime.

Such pretty and elegant little flowers - reminds me a bit of the flowers of the butterfly plant (Clerondendrum). Thanks for another interesting video Matthew - have a great week.

I like the new setup and enjoy the video. Strange how you can describe your conditions and I can relate them to where I live on the other side of the world (Ireland) but unfortunately without the high summer heat but we make up for this loss by plenty of rain (much to many people's regret)
@helloplantlovers2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching - yes there is a lot of cross over between Melbourne's climate and parts of Ireland! Odd to think!

Thanks for pointing me to your care video Matthew! I’m hoping I can grow mine outside. I don’t have the same one as you and one is actually a cross with Phal stobartiana! I need to do my research. ❤
@deedeeblooms7896 Жыл бұрын
Oops…the hybrid is with Phal stuartiana not stobartiana 😊
@helloplantlovers Жыл бұрын
Hmmm Phalaenopsis stuartiana is a warm grower - where abouts are you? I might not risk it in Melbourne's climate.

@@helloplantlovers I’m in Southern California just north of San Diego. 20 miles from the coast. And I agree I think the Phal hybrid needs to stay inside. The nursery was growing all of its Holcoglossums by their Paphiopedilums. Which is one of their warmer grow areas. The other hybrids I got are Holcoglossum sublifolium x Papilionanthe teres and Holcoglossum repestre x Vanda curvifolia
@helloplantlovers Жыл бұрын
@@deedeeblooms7896 I've just realised my Holcoglossum X Vanda does NOT like the chill! So it's an inside for winter baby now!

Hi Matthew, you are an evil person, lol. After saying I wasn't going to buy any more orchids I watched your video and thought I wonder if our local seller has any, now I have just bought a Holcoglossum amesianum Species seedling! I am hoping that I can grow this outside under my decking ( but we do get colder than you up there in Melbourne) so I will have to be careful. Apparently Holcoglossums are self fertilizing, which is why they don't produce a fragrance or nectar.
@helloplantlovers2 жыл бұрын
Ah - interesting about the self fertilising! Good luck with yours!

Hi There I’m from Melbourne to and I like to give my orchids to a good home are you interested
@helloplantlovers2 жыл бұрын
Oh thank you Lola! I probably have a MAJOR space issue but I'm sure there are many people who'd love to take on your collection? Two things I'd suggest are contacting the nearest orchid group - you can find the list of all the clubs in Victoria here: oscov.asn.au/ - and asking them to distribute the plants through their members, or putting the collection up on either FB marketplace or Gum Tree. Either way I'm sorry you have to let go of your orchids and I do wish I had endless room! If you wanted to contact me for any help feel free on: matthew@matthewdlucas.com and I can put something up on my Community page when you've figured out where they are to go.
