You are absolutely right about hostas being better off in pots. This year I added pot stands and the slugs couldn't reach my hostas . I will be moving the two left in the border over the autumn.

We are doing the same and moving most of our Hostas into pots this year. The pot stands is a good tip. Thank you

I have several hostas in pots. I grow them on a north facing porch. In late fall they move into my unheated attached garage. Come early spring they move to a south facing glass door and a few weeks Wala the Hosta start growing and get a head start on spring. But Most of my 50 + Hosta spend there life in the woods garden.

Hi, thank you for the 5 tips! I have yellow brown on tips of hosta leaves. Could you suggest what is best remedy. I don't think it's overwatering

I think the hostas are starting to brown now as it’s autumn ours are doing the same

They start to withdraw the nutrients from their leaves and eventually they completely brown and drop . We just leave ours to do this it’s the natural behaviour of the plant . When leaves are completely browned they just come away from Plant and you can pop them on compost heap

Sprinkle a little slugo around and hostas are safe, sluggo is safe and natural. Hostas in pots are beautiful but Hostas in ground can grow to their full size. Many Hostas grow to 6' wide, not going to happen in a pot.

We don't use any pesticides in the garden as we want to encourage wildlife. Our hostas do very well in pots we will just have to buy bigger pots as they grow and encourage thrushes to eat the slugs and snails

@@gardenerscottageblakeney1316 I only use the safest organic targeted ones like BT and Sluggo.

Beautiful hostas! What's the name of the big one with the gold/yellow color around the leaves?
@gardenerscottageblakeney13162 ай бұрын
I’m not sure about the names I’ll have to check and see if the label is still there if anyone knows the name of the big yellow hosta plant please pop in comments
