Awesome content mate, i live on Hawkes Bay, i found 5 little Kahikatea seedlings up at our farm over the xmas break that i rescued whilst doing some weeding. Im hoping to keep them alive! Should i keep them in shade or sun? They are the same size as the 100 odd ones you have

@@sammtamm hi mate thats very cool, the birds tend to do a really good job spreading the seed around the place and then the seedlings pop up. Definitely have them in the shade at the start and especially over the summer. Once they are a bit bigger you can move them to part sun 😊

Do you ever put your seed in the fridge for a few weeks prior to planting?

I haven't for Kahikatea, they seem to germinate well without doing so. Some other species I do though eg Cabbage tree / Ti kouka.

Hello from Hawkes Bay im glad to have found your Channel. Bird Lives matter plant Trees today Im have some 100 Kauri seed dropped from a Kauri 50+years old in our neigjbourhood.do you know please if seed from such a young Kauri are worth trying to germinate or better from more ancient Trees? Are you willing to seed swap? Thanks for sharing the Love. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6aagWuNrK58n6sfeature=shared

Hi, personally I would go ahead and germinate those kauri seeds provided they are from healthy trees with no dieback. In my mind growing some kauri is better than not growing any 😊 Sorry I don't have any seeds at the moment to swap.
